When you ordered the free sample for shipping and handling you gave them your card number. As part of that order you agreed that you had a set time (usually 14 days from order) to cancel or you agreed to be subscribed to their monthly order. So, unfortunately the order is "legit" and I doubt your card company will process as fraud. Definately get ahold of the company and cancel. Make sure you get a confirmation number that you write down and keep. Try to get the company to refund any charge ither than the shipping & handling.
