After repeated calls to DirecTV's "non" customer service, we are resigned to pay a $226 unauthorized charge to my credit card for porn movies we never ordered, supposedly 3-8 months prior to cancelling our 2-year service contract. This was the final straw in what was a nightmare experience with this ripoff company.

It started when I ordered a bundle for TV, phone and internet after seeing a DirecTV add that promised a $99 monthly "deal". We never got the bundle. DirecTV told me I had to set up the phone portion of the bundle through AT&T; AT&T denied that, they said I had to set it up through DirectTV. For weeks I placed calls to both businesses trying to receive my promised bundle package for a reduced cost. These calls would begin with me on hold waiting for a human.

The longest time I waited for DirecTV was 45 minutes. Then when I would request to speak to a supervisor, they'd lose me in the transfer...disconnected. So I'd have to start over again, first on hold, then through a maze of customer "non" service reps, who would ultimately disconnect us at some point before we ever reached a resolution. My husband and I gave up...no one was going to help us and he and I didn't have the time and days to continue calling, only to be told we needed to "work it out" with AT&T, which AT&T always denied.

Our first bill was $129 and only continued to climb. By the time we reached the 2-year contract date so that we could dump them without outraeous cancellation fees, our monthly bill was nearly $200. We had a basic cable plan, no special packages, no Porn channels, no NFL channel...bare bones.

When we cancelled, DirectTV said they'd send us packaging for our receivers to ship back to them. Fortunately, we saved our shipping receipts. DirectTv accused us of not returning the receivers and billed us for the equipment we had shipped back three weeks before. Again, my husband spent approximately two hours on hold, transferred to supervisors, and disconnected so he had to call back and start the hideous process all over again. After we FAXed the postal receipts proving we had indeed returned the receivers, they agreed to remove the non-return charge from our account.

Five weeks after we cancelled DirecTV, they charged my credit card $226! Again, my husband got on the phone to find out what now? They said the receiver's chip showed we had ordered 12 adult PPV movies (up to 8 months prior) that we had never been billed for. We then got a bill for these movies...HA! Apparently they found our returned receiver, or for all we know, it was somebody else's and they billed it to us! We'll never know, only that we are retired, we are nearly always together, no one else lives here, and we did not order the movies.

My husband, in fact, is in bed by 8, I stay up late and I know I never ordered a movie! My husband had to ask how we would even order the movies. We have never ordered any kind of movies from the TV, we use RedBox rentals. My husband asked DirectTV whether we could have pressed a button on the remote unknowingly. We were told we would have to call in the order. We know we didn't do that!

The service reps were particularly snide. They insisted "the chip never lies", suggesting my husband was a liar. One rep told him if it wasn't him, then he "must not know what goes on in his house." Unbelievable!

I researched consumer affairs and learned DirectTV has a history of charging customers' credit cards for adult PPV movies they say they never ordered, after they cancel their service. I am only sorry I didn't do my research before I signed their contract.
