Repo non-payment

AUTHOR: Brian - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, May 17, 2018

Deadbeats are always angry about repo's. First of all, the dealer no longer owns the loan, it is the bank you used for financing. Secondly, pay you bills on time and quit whining!

The rest of the story..

It seems like there is quite a bit missing from this story.

Obviously they didn't just call you up one day, ask you to bring the car back, and you said "sure no problem".  So what was the reason they asked you to bring it back?

Were you making payments on it?
Were those payments on-time and full payments?
Did they just take the keys and send you on your way?

Why did you have to bring it back?

You don't provide very many details.

If you were forced to return your car after 5 months because some kind of financing was not approved by a bank then you should file a complaint with your State Attorney (check out info under consumer affairs). I am pretty sure that there is a time limit that they were under to obtain financing for you (a lot less than 5 months). A car sale is not final until financing is attained and the bank takes title to your new car and the dealer can turn around and sell yours. No financing means no deal and you are supposed to get your car back.

If you had to surrender the car because you were not making payments then I guess you are out of luck. The bad part is that he can still come after you for the rest of the money if there is a difference in what you owed and what he resold the car for. The good news is he should pay you the difference if he sold it for more.

send a copy of your Ripoff Report, along with copies of all the contract papers regarding the sale that the dealership gave you, and put it to the attention of 'Investigative Reporter'.

There is a chance that someone will contact you and help you, and possibly do a story on TV. Also contact an attorney and get some advice.

Good luck and keep us posted.
