Dotsquares Statement from February 2014 mentions quite rightly that they will give you an estimate of the time it will take to complete your project.  What they mean by estimate is that they will tell you it will take 3 days when in fact it will take three weeks, and even then it wont be right.  Interestingly when you challenge them they fall back to saying that they only charge on a "time and materials basis".  My first piece of advice never pay for work until its done to your satisfaction.  If the web developer wont work on this basis there is a reason for it and go elsewhere.

Dotsquares are right in saying that they do not hide the fact that all the work is carried out in India.  What they dont tell you is what skills and qualifications the "developers" have or whether they can speak English to a level that is sufficient for complex issues like building a website.

Dotsquares suggest that they are always happy to discuss any issues you may have with their work.  Good luck with this.  In my experience and I know I am not alone they will stall delay and otherwise block any meaningful dialogue to the point where you feel you have no alternative but to sue them.

As we have thousands of clients Worldwide, it is almost impossible to know who posted this notice. All we can do is explain how we work... 

When we receive a request for work to be carried out, we provide an estimated timeframe for that work. As we work with multi-national organisations down to one man operations –the requirements we receive vary in detail and quality. 

When we provide an estimate of time, we include 3 prices. The first is for hiring a developer only, the other 2 include our project management services. We are very clear that if you are not used to hiring an overseas developer then you should take a project manager. Some people will choose the cheapest option, even though they have little or no project management experience. 

With regard to our locations, our head office is in the UK, we have offices in the USA and Australia, but all the work is done in our development centres in India. Unlike many other web and app development companies, we do not hide where the work is done. The guys that work in India are all employees of Dotsquares-we do not out source any work. 

To address the ‘payment up-front’ issue. I am not aware of any software provider that begins a project without a financial commitment from their client. Unlike most of our competition, we do not want a 50% deposit. Our preferred payment schedule is week by week, so there is no large initial outlay for our clients. It just happens that in this instance the estimate was for only 3 days work.

All parties have access to the online PM tool and can follow step by step the requests and feedback submitted by everyone involved with the project – so everyone is protected.
