D.P.I. ENGINES SHOTTY WORK!!! REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR HIS SCREW UPS!!! OKOTOKS Alberta

DPI ENGINES LOCATED WEST OF OKOTOKS JUST PAST THE WALMART ON THE RIGHT!!

My Husband and I had taken his 454 BB Chevy motor to D.P.I. Engines, for rebuild and replacing all components and parts for this engine, trusting that the work to be completed correctly and with his warranty. We paid
$3,866.46 for the R&R of engine; we had to pay $7,000 to have it installed and parts to put into the 1970 Monte Carlo, which my husband has own since 1984 and has sat for 8years, while we saved for the restoration process, this begins with the engine (which is the heart of any car & is not cheap). After installing, and many mechanic hrs of trying to tune the engine, the vehicle taken to a Calgary auto specialist to be placed on dyno machine to ensure the proper tuning of the motor and diagnosing why it will not tune. To our surprise, they informed us for fee of $108.98 that the motor installed with a solid camshaft and hydraulic top end... Instead of a hydraulic camshaft and hydraulic top end... in english terms... This is very wrong & could have blown motor up! Best money we spent!

The car was taken back to the mechanics and we were informed that the engine would have to be taken apart and new camshaft (hydraulic of course), Matching lifters, push rods, springs, anything that was damaged needed to be replaced and put back together. My husband was in contact with the owner (Jack) the whole time through this process, From when the key turned after installation to present day, Last week, taking the car back to Jack for a test ride for him to hear everything that was happening with the engine... He said everything was fine.. Well it is not! When my husband spoke to Jack, he told him that he would order the parts from USA and it would take 1+ week to get the parts, only ordering a new Mechanical camshaft and lifters.

(Mechanical is the same thing as Solid! (Didn't trust him much after hearing this), he said that he would only pay for the new camshaft and to be a nice guy he would throw in the lifters, and not pay for anything else such as labor to reinstall and replace the parts. When I spoke to him, he just brushed me off, like oh well... I screwed up and there is nothing you can do about it! My husband and I went to Mopac (16th ave NW) and bought all the parts there in stock, also we were informed that D.P.I Engine has an account at this store, So we weren't sure why he didn't get the parts there? He uses cheap parts instead... Clevit? Don't they make bearings???? We had to pay another $489.83 to get the list of parts needed and more next week once the thing is taken apart... The car and parts are at the Mechanics. (Any parts that are not used will be returned for store credit only keeping my fingers crossed), and will be repaired by next Friday with 7hrs or more to replace, we are paying for this as well. . I do not think that this is good business practice on D.P.I. Engines behalf.

I feel that he should have to replace all parts and labor costs. Because he is responsible for installing the wrong part (camshaft), being a professional engine builder, The responsibility is on him to do the right thing, not just say "oh well". At the end of all the repairs for this mistake will be another $1,228.81(+), if there has been damage to the engine further or mechanic has hard time getting the camshaft out and back in.

We have all receipts, from D.P.I.Engines, Anyone else who did work on the car...Pictures of the motor, old camshaft that is the wrong one, any parts that are damaged due to mistake, I guess that Warranty we paid for covers nothing, even his mistake. Incompendent idiot!!! We were going to take the stingray 73 motor there to be restored as well, guess that out of the question!!! BE CAREFUL WHO BUILDS YOUR ENGINE!!!!!
