Then, I come in and talk to them and give them before and after pictures, draw on their hair line, and then send them home to think about what they want to do.”

In order to provide great customer service for patients, Dr. John Kahen personally takes time to meet with each client. When patients come in, they go over goals and expectations for the process and what the realistic outcome is that they can expect from the procedure.

Their office takes certain measures to follow up with customers after treatment. They call patients 10 days after their procedure to make sure they are satisfied with the results. Then, they also have patients come in for a follow up ten days after the surgery, again after six months, and then for a last time after one year. After the follow up, if the patient decides that they would like to add more density to their hair, they will consult with Dr. Kahen about scheduling another procedure.

If a patient has a complaint, their office will call them to come in and discuss it in person. If a patient is unhappy with a procedure, they are offered a complimentary procedure. They explained that every procedure is different and while 99% of the time, the hair grows, there is a 1% that it will not. They factor this into their practice, and compensate for it.

Ripoff Report below was found to be false. Ripoff Report (((REDACTED))) the offending words because we found what was posted to be false.

Ripoff Report was contacted by the author begging us to remove it. The author admits to and basically told us that the report is false. To be clear, there have been no crimes committed by Dr. Kahen, and Ripoff Report was not sent any evidence for the claims the author of the Report made below. It should be known, that the Doctor did not and is not suing this person. As a matter of policy, when a business joins the Corporate Advocacy, Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program, .. Ripoff Report emailed everyone that filed a complaint so the member business could make things right with their customer …as our program calls for our members to err on the side of the customer. This relationship had nothing to do with the performance of Dr Kahen.  

(((REDACTED))) .. this Report was found to be false, just to try and hurt the Doctor  – Seems like this was a personal issue.  The Doctor doing a favor to help someone as a friend. Then turns on them to maybe squeeze money out of them.  This Report has nothing to do with the good doctors performance.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  This report has been UN-redacted in order to comply with Ripoff Report’s unwavering policy to provide information to consumers with information instead of hiding information from consumers.   The story of the redaction and un-redaction of this report highlights the importance of the policy to the operations of the Ripoff Report. And, I’m pissed off about it. Allow me to explain.

There were two complaints about Dr. Kahen’s medical practice on the Ripoff Report.  And, Dr. Kahen decided to take a pledge of customer service and join Ripoff Report’s Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program. And, as circumstances would have it, I was able to get a large amount of very reliable information about the quality of this medical practice.

As part of that process, Ripoff Report sent people to observe this medical practice. It was immediately evident that this was a clean, professional, extremely will run medical business. I had first-hand accounts about the quality of service from this business.  Without question, this is the kind of place I might go myself to have my hair restored.

And, I got in contact with the author of one of the reports.  I came away convinced that the report was an abuse of the website. The accusations were horrid, disgusting, outrageous, and I believed, completely false.

Now, please keep in mind, Ripoff Report does not have the resources to investigate every report that comes into the website.  Authors are responsible to tell the truth, free rebuttals are provided, we have an Arbitration program that allows someone to prove that a complaint is false and have false statements redacted (and nothing gets redacted unless the statement is proven false). Consumers are smart, and they can figure things out when they read both sides.  But Ripoff Report does not have the resources to investigate every one of millions of items of information posted, and we don’t even have the resources to investigate every report about Ripoff Report Verified™  Corporate Advocacy Program members. 

But in this case, I had very good information. And I was offended that the author would abuse Ripoff Report by lying.  And, I wanted to do the right thing. As always, I wasn’t getting enough sleep.  And so I made a mistake and redacted the report.  Completely. Every word.  Technically it was still there as a page on the website, but all of the original (and false) words of complaint were redacted.

So why was that a mistake? What was wrong with redacting all of that false report?  Well the first thing is that doing it may have opened the door for a pack of scum sucking pathetic losers to claim that I removed the report for money.  The same hypocritical lying jackals that try to convince people that Ripoff Report is bad because it won’t take down reports may start screaming that Ripoff Report is bad because it redacted this false report.  And that just pisses me off.

And second thing is that it really does go against the principle to show everything and let consumers decide, rather than hide things.


I should also mention, the Doctor never knew I had the original Report removed that I know of.  While I am sure he sees that it’s gone,  the good Doctor was not told by Ripoff Report we would ever be removing the original Report.  

However, this has got me thinking.  There ought to be a way for Ripoff Report to investigate at least a few reports, and expose the few that are dishonest. So, I’m working on that.

I frequently get asked – “Ed, just go ahead and remove it, no one will ever know . . .”  First of all, that is not our policy, and not our philosophy, and I am sorry I ever deviated from it, even one time. So don’t even ask.  And, someone will know.  There are piece-of-crap people out there who have openly sworn to destroy Ripoff Report because they are afraid of the exposure it brings to their piece-of-crap lives as con-artists, swindlers, frauds, and incompetent nincompoop losers.  If no one else notices, those hypocrites would notice and tell everyone, and accuse Ripoff Report of being corrupt and unfair.  It is better to tell consumers everything and let them decide for themselves. It is better to post a rebuttal with your side of the story, it is better to bend over backwards to please an unreasonable customer and SHOW THE WORLD you are willing to try. It is better to join our Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program and make the customer service pledge.  If you are wrong, it is better to apologize and correct your mistake openly, and use the Ripoff Report to prove your courtesy, skill, good customer service and integrity.

Now to the original Report that was posted (which I believe is completely and disgustingly contrived, made-up, fake, and false).  

I began to work for Dr. John Kahen in Nov 2011.  I was laid off 6 months later and asked to rejoin as a tech on the days there were cases in Fall 2012.  During this time I have witnessed a lot of disturbing things in the office. As a medical professional, one of the most disturbing to me was how unclean the procedure room and lab area were.  In my experience in other practices, rooms are throughly cleaned after each case, this includes the floor.  This was never done at BHHR.  In fact I would do my best on days I was there to use sani wipes to clean visble blood from base of chair and floor under chair used during procedure.  It would often be black with old dirt and build up of old blood on the wipe and I would show him.  I repeatedly asked Dr. Kahen to at least purchase a mop and proper cleaning supplies so techs could do it, or bring in people after hours to do it. As the cleaning person does nothing other than empties trash and floor of waiting area. It was never done.  I finally went to target on my own and purchased a mop, bucket and bleach.  Last I saw ithe mop was still in the plastic.  I always left before procedure was over as I was not trained to place grafts.  I dissect and remove strip only so was not there to do floors after patient left.

Routinely he allows his techs to inject numbing agents if he has left the procedure and techs are placing grafts and patients are placing grafts. In California, state law only allows liscenced nurses to admininster any type of numbing agent.  This includes even topical numbing cream.  Not a certified medical assistant, surgical tech...NOBODY other than a liscenced nurse of which he does not have in his practice.

The instrument sterilizer is another bio-hazzard for risk of infection.  When I came to originally work there it had no routine cleaning or testing per manfactures guidelines.  Additionally it should be checked at minimum weekly with testing materials that are in the office to assure proper temperature reached to kill any infectous virus, bacteria or spores present.  It has gone for months even years without ever being done. all entries in any records are only made by myself.  This is for the safety of patients to assure any patient with HIV or Hep B who had instruments used during their procedure could not infect subsequent patients.  Without these measures in place done routinely at every other practice I've been employed at, this poses a danger of heath risk.  This is never done at BHHR.  I have attempted talk to Dr. Kahen and other techs about this. Techs have said this was part of their duties at other offices but if they are not made to do it, they apparently don't care to. Nobody seems to care.

Dr. Kahen over the past few months has complained that his administrative staff is incompetent and he expressed interest in letting them go and giving me my former position back.  I had accepted more than once and was happy to be able to come back full-time to whip things back into shape as they were when I was employed in that role.  That office is not that busy in an adminstrative role that where the person sitting at the front desk can't get up and clean and do lots of other tasks.  You must multi-task in a small office.  These girls have been allowed to sit and watch reality television all day in the waiting area while the same dirty dishes sit for days and weeks back in the sink. As it always turned out he never let them go, and just another false promise. Eventually one of those girls embezzled money from him and I assisted him in getting it back as he calls me, his friend screaming. He then offered me her job and said "there's so much that can be done, I need someone I can trust (this was a marketing role) I accept, I waited weeks for him to meet with me and go over what he needed and to take over where she left off.  Next thing, I hear he's going on a blind date with a former NFL cheerleader new to LA with no money or car who needed work. Ok....but he assures me he will absolutley not hire her and the job is mine.  Ok...waiting still. A few days later, as Im in the office working as a tech for a procedure as usual and this girl comes in to begin work behind the desk...I say nothing but I'm in shock.  This is now about the third time in a few months something like this has happened.

With not enough work merely being a tech and having my lease on my house run out, I decide to move back home which is quite far out of the LA area.  In a month of me being gone, he gets rid of the cheerleader who he deems as "worthless" and really wants me to come back to work full time both as a tech and doing marketing including other misc tasks for him as he has other business ventures. Apparently i am the only one who is competent and trustworthy and serious in his life of all the employees he's ever had. Well, I have been in this position before with the promise of employment that resulted in nothing, so of course I'm extremely cautious of this.  I now have no residence in the LA area. I have seen patterns of behaviors that make me nervous. After hours and days of discussing all of this I agree to his offer, we agree on salary and I say the only way I can do this is if he secures me proper, decent housing for which I will be responsible for the monthly rent. He will lease and be responsible however in the long run. Before I could feel ok with this, we have several more conversations and I begged him to not go back on his word.  To not leave me in a horrible position of being in LA with nowhere to live.  Its not uncommon for an employer interested in bringing in someone they are interested in to arrange housing for them, and to me this was my assurance thant he would keep me employed since he was responsible for the lease on paper and guarentee no more of past nonsense of false promises of employment. We decide I will begin work on a Monday and he has me set up appointments to vire houses the weekend before.  I agree to this arrangement only if I have secure housing within the first week as I will have to figure out temporary housing arrangements for the week and I of course will need to be comfortable since I needed to be at work everyday. The first house we see is perfect.  dr kahen takes the application and assures me he's going to complete and email it that afternoon.  He assures me he did it and 2 days later he says he is 4th in line for the home and everyone's credit and applications are being checked. Dr Kahen tells me to keep searching for other homes in case he didnt get it.

Fast forward....I call the agent on the first home days later.  Not a single application in on the home 4 days later, they have run nobody's credit.  Dr. Kahen TOTALLY LIED TO ME.  That home was available and I could of moved in already. That night I rent a room in an affordable hotel, as I have to be at work the next day. I wake up to find dozens of bed bug bites all over me.  It's bad. My face, arms, neck and back are covered.  My right eye is swollen almost completley shut. I take pics and text them to Dr. Kahen who barely responds.  I go to a friends couch so I can take Benedryl and rest.  I wake up the following morning to a red streak coming from a bite on my wrist running the entire length of my arm.  Instantly I know...blood poisioning. I also wake up to a text from Dr. Kahen that he can't afford to do the housing as promised.  I am now homeless in LA with blood poisioning. He texts me and tells me NOT to go to the ER but to come to his Beverly Hills office and he will give me a steroid injection.  Are you serious doctor, this is clearly blood poisioning, I need blood cultures and IV antibiotics. I check myself into the ER, the doctor knows instantly.  I am in the ER with a potentially fatal medical issue caused by trusting this man, this physician, my friend. waiting for this house as promised and getting up, living out of a suitcase and going to work. And it's cost me my health. I ask that he at least pay me for the week of work, my expenses while in LA and get me a decent hotel to recover in as the hospital tells me to stay close because if the red streak passes the line she drew after the IV antibiotics I would be admitted as an impatient the following day.  He refuses.

I ask him to make this right, he refuses. Homeless in LA because of trusting this man.  A physican who brings me here for work and tells me that rooms are $200 a night and he can't afford it. Leaves me alone in a huge city, sick...a doctor.  I will be filing a lawsuit. I hope this helps in making a decision of who to trust with your health and safety.  There are hundreds of emails and texts supporting this story.
