As a physician myself, I feel like I can give a reasonable evaluation of Dr. Harris. We came to him for recommendations regarding the cancer pain my father was experiencing, and in hindsight, he is genuinely the worst doctor I have ever met. When we asked him for recommendations regarding dry mouth and dysphagia my father was experiencing with his fentanyl patch, he claimed that it was because of his antidepressant. Although the antidepressant has antimuscarinic properties which may lead to dry mouth, the fact that hes been taking this drug for 20 years, and was opioid-naiive, with dry mouth one of the most common symptoms of opioid medications, leads me to strongly question his clinical judgment. Moreover, he has refused to increase the dose of fentanyl for my father, despite his rapidly increasing and uncontrolled pain and the current evidence in the literature of a high prevalence of inadequate pain control in cancer patients. He was also behind in his guidelines: When discussing Norco (a combination of an opiate and acetaminophen) dosing for my father, he stated that the daily limit of acetaminophen was 4mg/day when the guidelines have been changed in 2011 to 3mg/day by the FDA due to concerns of liver toxicity in higher doses. See below.(medicaid.nv.gov/Download...)  How a pain specialist could be unaware of this is simply shocking and embarrassing. When asked if there are any oral opioid options without acetaminophen, he said "there are none." Ever heard of codeine, hydromorphone, hydrocodone?! Even if he didn't think these were appropriate, he should have at least given educated us accurately. After all of this, we were fed up with him. Do not see Dr. Harris, he is objectively a bad doctor
