DTN Cares I read a story on their website that was from another non-profit. The script and pictures were all copied. I e-mailed them and called them and all they did was get defensive and lie. They must have a reason to do be doing this but I think it is sad when it for the homeless population. Isn't there enough homeless to get your own pictures and pictures of your volunteers. Newport Beach California

I had no idea when I was told a group that I had volunteered with through a large church had a problem with a Non-Profit on line using their script and story of their ministry to the homeless in Orange County, Ca. The worst part was they used their ministry pictures without permisson. They have pictures of old volunteers like myself that don't even go out and volunteer anymore.
The description of their text is so untrue. They claim they are doing all the work the real homeless group has been doing for over 4 years. This is a group with no paid employees and strictly survives from donations. This web site that has copied all the information is using it for their own gain. They solicit for third world country children with medical conditions. I guess they did not have a background and just took someone else's.
I e-mailed them and was sent back pages of Bible scriptures. Can you imagine someone doing this and then using the Bible as a defense. I also called and the head man was defensive and kept insisting he was running the organization. Strange how he is not in any of the pictures.
From what I hear he is defensive and a real bully when confronted by the core group. He just lies one lie on top of another. Very sad indeed he can't find better things to do. He claims to be in ministry but I certainly did not hear
anything come out of his mouth but anger and hate.
I guess we must guard ourselves when we allow someone to take a picture never knowing where it will end up being in these days of the internet.
I thought there was laws to protect this kind of thing also. It sounds like when you are talking about the internet anthing goes. I guess that is why the
Grossman's use the internet for all their businesses.
Be aware of who your getting involved with in non profit and ministry work. That saying about a wolf being dressed in lamb's clothing sure applies to this situation.

DTN Cares is a very small non-profit run without ANY salaries using member funds for operations. Helping the homeless with clothes, food, and counseling: loving them the way Jesus Christ would with dignity and respect is one of the goals.
As a registered charity DTN Cares keeps records of all cash in a detailed accounting that is totally above reproach according to accounting standards. Anyone who donates to DTN Cares can be assured of the highest level of efficiency AND integrity.
It is bothersome but necessary to explain that DTN Cares members donated over 1,000 hours and several thousand dollars over a period of years collecting, sorting, and distributing clothes, over-the-counter medicine, sleeping bags, and especially "Job Interview Clothes" for the "working homeless" who live on the street but go to work somewhere at sub-livable wages.
In addition to the donated clothes and medicine DTN Cares went to local department stores to purchase NEW underwear for men, women, and children: yes families live in shelters too.
In this Thanksgiving season pray for the Homeless in Orange County and elsewhere and be THANKFUL that God has blessed our nation with the opportunities that most of us take for granted.
Finally, I want to leave with something written that I find helpful every day: "Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them."
