Duropower Generators BUYER BEWARE Covina, California

Duromax is a shell company that buys generators from China by the container, repackages them and sends them to the buyer.  If you have a problem, you are on your own.  No service, no technical information, no support.  They are rude, and ignorant.  They give information which is patently wrong and misguided and admit that they have no expertise and have no desire to help solve your problem.  They have to references to Chinese help.  You buy it is is yours to operate, fix, etc.



The two generators I bought were allegedly rated at 3,700 watts continuous.  Neither would produce more than 2,400 watts, new out of the box.  Above 2,400 watts they started to smoke, slowed and then stopped.  "Brenda", a real sweetheart claimed that the generator was overloaded even though the load was tested with a meter.  She stated that electric resistance loads should be rated at three times the sticker load.  Absolute nonsense!  There was no desire whatsoever to try to solve the problem.  A tactic to get you off the phone and eventually hang up on you.  You bought it, its yours attitude.  Apparently the company consists of a phone, a desk, an incompentent and abrasive person answering the phone... and, oh yes and I am sure an accountant, lawyer type somewhere who dreamed up this consumer nightmare who rakes in the profits.



If you want a generator, pay extra from a well known company like Honda, Onan, Kohler that have a reputation and a national presence and network in the U.S. that you can count on and will be there in the future.  That represents the difference in price. It costs money to maintain the technical support and parts supply.  Generators are not problem free items that just run without support.  You will only get what you pay for. 



Another trick they play is constantly discontinuing models so they don't have to deal with the backlog of problems for that model.



Buyer beware!!  I got stuck.  Don't you fall into the same trap!
