E-harmony.com Total scam..they take the money & give NOTHING in return Internet
*Consumer Comment: eHarmony - positive experience
*Consumer Comment: I Wass On Their Mailing List during the "Free" Holiday Trial Period - Thanks for the Heads Up to RIP OFF REPORT!
I got sucked into paying for a 3 month membership when e-harmony claimed to have several matches. I found out that the matches evidently were not members...just people who had filled out the profile.
As soon as e-harmony had my money I did not receive a single match or potential match for the entire 3 month period.
As soon as the membership period was up I started receiving more e-mails claiming that they have new matches for me.
What a rip-off!!
Avoid this company like a plague. They will take your money and give NOTHING in return.

eHarmony - positive experience

Hello,
The posts I read reported negative experience with eHarmony. I'm sorry to hear that you felt ripped off. I was a member for two years before I found the "match" for me. My "match" found me within her first month. Even though I waited two years to meet her, it was well worth the money spent. What is finding love worth to you? Best of luck should you decide to give eHarmony a second chance.
Found love on eHarmony...

The ad sounded really neat. I don't have any family and I really wasn't looking forward to spenidng another holiday by myself so I filled out the compatibility test and all of that other online stuff except I did not fill out my real date of birth and I was registered but they wanted me to send money which I did not have so I promptly forgot about it...
UNTIL
I heard a radio ad stating that they would match you up and you could communicate with the matches for FREE for three days...
SO YOU WOULDN'T BE LONELY FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
I SHOULD have asked myself how they could possible make money giving away what they sell but I wasn't thinking. I was thinking how neat it would be to connect with someone so I would at least have someone to e-mail over the holidays., This was after Chanukkah and right before Christmas. Somewhere in between.
I decided for FREE, I would reactivate my application or whatever it is that you do when you fill everything out but you don't pay. I saw their prices and nearly fainted from SHOCK! The one month membership would feed me for a month!
It took me a day to reactivate my account. I didn't pay anything because it was supposed to be FREE. Of course, no communications came to me.
On the second day, still NOTHING.It takes a DAY to post my information or whatever they do with it when computers process time in microsecond of microseconds?????
On the last day, I started getting great offers from the neatest people --COLLEGE PROFESSORS, ATTORNEYS,Vice presidents of international corporations, Rabbis, Torah readers, etc. with wonderful educations and the kind of people I have always dreamed about meeting! So I took their suggestions and forwarded them the questions that had been pre-selected and I chose which ones I wanted an answer to.After, all it only takes a few minutes to post and for the computer to match you with these great matches. NOT WITH THESE FOLKS!
After the third day, on the very next day, my e-mail box was suddenly CRAMMED with all these wonderful matches that e-Harmony.com had suddenly found for me. TOO LATE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR SO-CALLED FREE SPECIAL! Somebody got in touch with me for free but I couldn't contact anybody.
That's also when I learned that I could contact some of them right away but for them to get back to me I would have to pay.
There was one who I was 100 percent compatible with, according to them. Unlike the others in their so-called membership entries, he didn't go on and on about the women he had loved and lost -- and who wants to hear about all that? Or the ones devoted to their children and griping about their ex wives --Jerry Springer Showtime is not my idea of a relationship!
The others I could send questions to but to get ANY communications to THIS one, it seems I would have to pay the price of admission. ENOUGH TO BUY MY GROCERIES FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH!
By now, I am not sure any of these people even exist.
SO I put my ex-private investigator experience in use and started to look for some of these people who were supposed to be so compatible with me.
I was able to find two of the people I was supposed to be compatible with ---without
benefit of e-Harmony and I contacted them independently yesterday. I am still waiting to hear from them and am not sure if they even existed at all. So far, neither one of them have bothered to contact me back. And neither one sounds like a pick of the litter to me either in the first place but I only wanted to find two of them anyway to see if they even existed.
SO far I am still waiting. If anyone contacts me, I will revisit this entry and tell you what they said.
THIS SURE SUSPICIOUSLY SOUNDS LIKE A RIP-OFF TO ME!
And after reading what you wrote, I am glad I did not spend my grocery money for this foolishness.
I guess I will always wonder what "could have been" and maybe should have been...
People who prey on old people, children, disabled people and lonely people should have a special place in hell reserved for them.
P.S.I saw an ad on their homepage with a photo of a girl that said she was ENGAGED to a guy she met through E-Harmony dot.com in 2003 or 2004. Well, It's 2008 and now, sweetie AND NO MARRIAGE YET???? Maybe even NO relationship or how many guys since the "engagement"?
In Jewish culture, we used to have matchmakers ( As in the musical "Hello,Dolly") to handle this stuff. I wish we still did...
Will definitely keep you advised about THIS.
