Renter Beware – Worn out not maintained RV’s

We planned our summer vacation for several months with my wife and two kids 3 and 3 months. My wife had never been camping before so I wanted it to be a good experience. So, we looked carefully and saw that Easy Camper Rental had high ratings. We thought this would be a good bet for our weeklong get a way in the mountains of Utah.

As we got close, we our family was so excited. We had to make some special plans because we had our new 3-month-old little girl. We needed a microwave so we could heat up a bottle for her every few hours. Having an RV was the solution, so we rented a 24 foot trailer from Easy Camper Rental. Seamed so easy. We even paid extra to have everything prepared for us clean, tanks empty etc., and be able to return with out any hassle so my wife could have a great first experience.

The day came for us to pick up the RV we were so excited. Our first experience with the RV was that it was nothing but clean, but our enthusiasm was such that we just quickly cleaned everything so we could load our food and clothing. Our camping adventure was an off-grid trips with no hookups so we through it best to check everything. We first pulled into an RV Dump at the gas station and made sure the black and gray water tanks were empty. We found that they were not, were glad we stopped by to dump them, so we had room in those tanks for a week.

A pattern was forming so we decided to check if the propane tanks were full. Not surprising at this point both propane tanks took 2 and ½ gallons to fill them. We pushed through making the preparations for the next mornings departure. All was going well we arrived at the campground with wonderful trees and a lake nearby. Due to the drive our kids were a bit tired, so we got settled in to camping and had to get a bottle warmed up for our little girl. We plugged in the generator so we could run the microwave since it won’t run on the batteries. The generator ran fun until we started the microwave then it killed the generator. Big challenge with a little baby.

Luckily 5 camp sites down my parents were with us camping so we ran to their RV to use their microwave. The problem is these makes it very difficult when you have to prepare bottles every few hours.

We then tried a few outlets in the RV to plug in some small items and found that most of the outlets didn’t work. Luckily the toilet, and the lights worked.

After a few challenging nights running back and forth trying to make challenging situation better. I got up early to try to catch some fish. After a short time, my wife came walking through the campground with my two kids in blankets. She left the RV because the carbon monoxide and propane warning sensors were going off. This was the last straw we can’t even use the RV now; my wife doesn’t trust having our kids in the RV it is dangerous.

With zero cell service for miles, we drove to the top of the pass and hiked up the mountain to call Easy Camper Rental. To our surprise they were helpful, and I asked that they meet us somewhere so we can trade this unit for a different one that works. We agree on a meeting spot and a time.

We then hooked everything up and I left my wife a 3-month-old with my parents, and we drove for an hour and a half to the meeting spot. We took some time to swap out all the items in our  RV to the new one. We unhooked and reconnected the truck to the new RV and started the drive back to the campground. We were relieved now we had a working trailer and we could stay a few more days and have a positive experience. We settled in for the night with a huge rain storm all night. This was ok except that the roof leaked on this RV right above the queen bed on to our faces.

Needless to say we had a horrible experience with the equipment provided us. It is really worn out not clean or maintained.

We left early for obvious reasons nd headed home. We confronted the operator of the Easy Camper Rental that we should receive some sort of refund for our inconveniences. He explained all the problems away as our fault and said he as to feed his family so out of $2,000.00 paid to him including the security deposit he gave us a refund of $132.00.

I don’t like being called a liar, I paid with an expectation of renting a working RV and we had to units give us a very bad experience. I can’t speak for anyone else but for us we will never rent from Easy Camper Rental in the future.
