The check for $3988.35 looked legit and no one asked for suspicious info when I called as instructed by the letter and I had entered the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes but I was still leary. Figuring there would be no harm in depositing the check I took it to my bank.

Thank goodness that I have a relationship with my local bank. Not only did they point out that I would be charged if the check bounced but they took the time to phone the bank that the Rusty Eck check was drawn on. The account numbers had been stolen and it was indeed a scam. I was also warned that by depositing the check I risked revealing to the scammers who my bank is and possibly giving them access to my account.
