Below is a copy of a letter I received saying that I had won $750,000 in a lottery I didn't even enter. As you can see, they are asking for $180.00 for courier service and 'insurance'. I would strongly advise anyone who receives such a letter NOT to give them ANY money or you will only lose it.If it is an honest winning, you will never be asked to pay a dime. Also, please note that the letter is written on Yahoo e-mail and not the e-mail of a professional lottery site. (at the very end of the letter) These are just plain and simple Internet scam artists just waiting for your $180.00 to arrive and you won't get anything in return. Be careful!

Congratulations once again on behalf of the Donations Board. We do believe that your winnings will be put into good use for community, educational and business development. On Behalf of the Screening Committee of Donations Board, I wish to formally announce to you that you have successfully passed the Email Screening and Verification Matching Test conducted for all online winners in your Category. Hence you are therefore cleared, your cheque has been issued and you can now claim your donation.

All necessary documents that will facilitate the clearance of your cheque in your name has been processed. Your parcel contains the following documents:

1. WINNING CHEQUE VALUED THE SUM OF $750,000
2. WINNING CERTIFICATE FROM THE DONATIONS BOARD.
3. CLEAR SOURCE OF FUNDS CERTIFICATES(C.S.F.C.)
4. ANTI-TERRORISM CERTIFICATES(A.T.C)
5. CERTIFICATES OF ORIGIN OF FUNDS(C.O.F.)
6. LETTER OF AFFIDAVITS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE, STATING THAT THE WINNING WAS RECEIVED LEGALLY FROM THE UNIVERSAL DONATION PROGRAM, AND DUELY SIGNED BY THE LEGAL ATTORNEY TO THE DONATIONS BOARD.

These documents have been securely sealed and packed for security reasons which makes it impossible for anyone to view it until its been delivered to you.

The Donations board has discovered a huge number of double claims due to winners informing close friends relatives and third parties about their winning and also sharing their pin numbers. As a result of this, these friends try to claim the donation on behalf of the real winners. The Donations board losses millions of dollars to this fraudulent people, and has reached a decision from headquarters that any double claim discovered by the Donations board will result to the Donations board cancelling that particular claim, making a loss for both the double claimer and the real winner, as it is taken that the real winner was the informer to the double claimer about the winnings. So you are hereby strongly advised once more to keep your winnings strictly confidential until you can claim your donation.

Your parcel with identification number: ISPN/OWN/6543 has been sent to our affiliate claims office, because your claims falls within our ECOWAS booklet, and you have been directed to contact the Ecowas Counselor in charge of claims dispatch.

This is why your parcel must be insured with our affiliate insurance company. This company decline reverse payment for these charges, stating that it is against their professional policy towards ensuring the safe delivery of the cheque to you. That if a reverse payment is made, and something goes wrong, that we/you cannot sue the courier company or insurance company to recover the full value of the fund as stipulated in the cheque since payment for insurance cover was not made at point of mailing. With the above reason, reverse payment is ruled out.

Mr. Frank Udah/Nigerian Lottery scam winning letter

AUTHOR: Pamela - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2007

If anyone receives a letter from the above people, delete it right away. These are nothing more than scam artists waiting to take $180.00 from you for a 'couier' and 'insurance' in which to bring you a check for $750,000. If this was real, you would not have to pay a dime in order to get your money. You might have to pay taxes but nothing to the lottery you win from. Also, usually, you have to enter to win anything. I never entered their lottery and yet I 'won' $750,000.

Another thing to watch out for is the stationary used on these letters. If it is genuine it will be on their own office stationary and e-mail. Not e-mail from Yahoo or any other personal service.
