I found the car I really wanted at Eddie Accardi Dodge in Pompano Beach, FL (a 2002 Jeep Liberty). When it was time to make a deal, the salesperson showed me a Kelly Blue Book report for the car, but it had California listed at the top. I asked about it and he said that was where the company (Kelly Blue Book) was located. After I did some research on Kelly Blue Book (after I bought the car), I found out that each report is based on the zip code you enter and prints that location on the top of each report. These scammers used a zip code from Beverly Hills, CA which listed a much higher retail value (About $2000 higher).

Then they offered me $4400 for my trade on a chicken scratch piece of paper, that they ended up keeping. When I saw the final paperwork, my trade was listed as $3400. They totally lied!

This company is very deceptive and shady. Be very wary of doing business with them. I'm very upset that I fell sucker to them. I just really wanted that particular car. If I would have been patient I could have bought the same car for about $4000 less.

It is my understanding that the "Division of Motor Vehicles" in Broward is very tough on Dealerships that conduct shaddy business. You should call them and ask them for a "complaint affidavit form" which they can even fax to you. Then they send a compliance auditor to investigate them and come up with a solution.

Here are their numbers:

If you live in Dade County 305-222-4164
or Broward 954-797-8436

Good luck and keep on fighting for your consumer rights!

You seem to have known a little bit about buying a car. Why didn't you do the homework before you "went to class" instead of after? Kind of like studing after the test when you know what answers are going to be on the test but you've already failed it. I hate to tell you but they didn't "give" you anything for your trade in. They got it for free. Now they'll sell it to the next sucker for $7900 or $8900. So, all told they probably picked up the 2002 Jeep for seven or eight thousand dollars, or less, sold it to you for what eleven or twelve thousand and make a nice ten or twelve thousand at least, on the whole deal. Buy a new 2003 jeep liberty for $15k. Now, 3 years later, car dealers are selling 2003 jeep liberties for $15k. That they take on trade for seven or eight thousand. They get you coming and going. IF you let them and DON't DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
