Eharmony is a complete and total rip off and dishonest company. After only signing up for a one month subscription they continue to charge my account without consent. Also, I have cancelled my subscription with them before the month was over to be sure that I wasn't charged and THEY STILL CHARGED ME almost $50! THEY don't have a contact number and never respond to Emails. Dishonest and Terrible! Don't even start with them!

#6 Consumer Suggestion

from their web sight

AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

this is taken from their web sight.

Question
How do I close my account or delete my profile?

Answer
Closing your eHarmony account is easy, but it's important that you follow these simple steps.

All eHarmony accounts are closed via our website. Sending an e-mail requesting an account closure and/or refund will only delay our response to you. Please help us help you by following our online account closure procedure:

Log into your account at www.eharmony.com
Select the My Settings link at the top of the page
Click the Account Settings subheading
Click the "Close Account" link at the bottom of the page to begin the process of closing your account

positive experience

AUTHOR: Exemployee18 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 24, 2008

Well I can tell you I that I am a 28 yr old male and have been with them for two months and I get a ton of matches and a ton of responses. I am not sure how many people they have log on but I am probably guessing they have more young adults than elders. So maybe they have a larger population to choose from..i dont know for sure. i just wanted to say i do not see them as a scam and i have met some wonderful people on there. Much better than other sites such as True and Match in my opinion.

I am responding to the poster "confused"

AUTHOR: Alan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 07, 2007

You claim you have not given any money yet, but you are getting responses. Those responses are bait, as soon as they have your credit card number your responses will magically dry-up. This operation is truly a scam and the number of posters on this website can only prove this claim. If you send them cash you will be sorry. The matches you get, if you do, will be people like the guy dressed in a parrot suit. They will be people who are not members so you cannot contact them, in other words PURE SCAM. Save your money.

Confused

AUTHOR: Deharmony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 07, 2007

This isn't really a rebuttal, but a general comment(s). I'll admit, now y'all got me confused. I am---or was going to---register with eHarmony, but thought I better do some investigating first. Actually, I HAVE registered, but I haven't sent them a penny yet. My profile has been matched with several women and a couple have asked for more information from and about me. To reply to them, I have to send eHarmony some cash. But before I do so, I wanted to do some checking first. The Internet is a valuable tool for investigating virtually anything, so here I am.

I have seen the TV commercials with Super Friendly Guy(SFG) showing us many happy couples brought together by eHarmony. And now I'm reading all over the Internet(this is but one of MANY sites FULL of complaints about eHarmony) that SFG is, at the least, stretching the truth, or, at the most, lying through his super friendly teeth. No refunds, no responses to customer complaints/requests, and either poor quality matches or incompatible matches. All of this from SFG? C'mon. Is this possible? What about the happy couples playfully canoodling each other in front of the camera? Where are they? One would think they would be flooding the Internet with happy stories of their eHarmony experience, but there are few, if any, verifiable reports of happy couples brought together by SFG.

I'm soooooo confused.

Response to rebuttal

AUTHOR: Anne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 26, 2007

The employee who posted a rebuttal is lying. They do not offer refunds and what's more they try to steal more money from you by saying it takes time. The fact is that they DO advertise that they are going to send compatible matches and that's a lie.

When I joined, I believed all of their advertising. They sent me, a high-income professional "compatible" matches that included a factory worker with a parrot sitting on his shoulder..and he was dressed like the parrot. In fact, they FLOODED my inbox with similar ridiculous "matches" way outside of my preferences and even when I tried to cancel within the seven day period, they wouldn't refund my money.

The truth is that eharmony is a scam. They might have gotten lucky over the years matching a handful of couples, but those people might also be actors. I know from experience how this company behaves and from experience I would discourage ANYONE from handing over financial information to these crooks.

Lack of a phone number

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 06, 2005

Dear Jeanne,
I'm sorry your experience with eharmony was so bad. My experience with eharmony was rather positive. I found someone whom I've fallen deeply in love with. However it was rather expensive and the process is rather lengthy. I had no problem cancellin my account. I read your remark and it bugged me they don't have a number listed on their website (I searched the site as well). I went www.google.com however and after running a search I found this:
-------------------------------------------------
For those out there looking for eharmony phone numbers, they did email me the following numbers several weeks ago [though I give no assurances of its accuracy]

800 648-9548

Billing info: 800 263-6133

The business hours for the phone numbers are M-F, 8 AM to 6 PM Pacific Time. I haven't used the phone numbers myself, eharmony already has my email address, why give them my home phone number via caller ID.
-------------------------------------------------
I called the number the person on the thread listed and after getting past the main menu was promptly answered by an actual person. The number I used was: 1-800-263-61330. I asked the operator if he'd be able to cancel an account over the phone and he said yes. I also asked asked if they were able to handle refunds over the phone to which he also replied yes. I hope this helps you out and that you get a refund. Please post the result good or bad.
