#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Do not hire April Wigand-Lewis
AUTHOR: KBrandi - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, October 19, 2010
Given that professional integrity is a big part of KAHs formula for success and the way I always conduct business, I am responding to a compromising post April Wigand-Lewis, a spokesmodel I hired, posted about me online.
Though Ms. Wigand-Lewis claims I did not pay her in full and did not communicate with her sufficiently, I paid her the full fee ($100) for the nighttime event she worked even though her performance for the job she was hired for was less than satisfactory. We believed what prompted her hostile posts was the fact that we did not pay her for a cancelled job assignment with an earlier September 18, 2010 San Diego Tequila Festival event we did not use her for. Last minute cancellations are a very common occurrence in this industry.
In terms of the job where we put her to work on the evening of September 18, problems surfaced immediately when Ms. Wigand-Lewis arrived at the site. Her physical presence and beverage industry experience did not match up with the photo and resume she originally submitted. She did not arrive at the site adequately prepared for the job, in shoes that she could not walk comfortably in and in clothing that was clearly inappropriate for the upscale venue our event was staged in. She spent most of her shift on the floor socializing and resting rather than performing the job she was hired to do. She also was unable to speak intelligently about KAH or tequila in general, and could not represent our product the way we expect all hired spokesmodels to.
Though Ms. Wigand-Lewis intention with the post is to put questions into the publics minds about me and my company, the truth is we treated her more than fairly given her conduct on the job and poor performance. We also advise our colleagues in the industry to scan resumes and photos closely when hiring models for public jobs to avoid the kinds of problems that can compromise their public image. Though we are usually very thorough when hiring people to do jobs that publically represent our company, occasionally we do meet people like this individual, which reminds us that we are the company we keep and we have to approach the hiring process with the sharpest attention to detail.
