I went to a seminar put on by H.O.M.E.,Inc.on June 27, 2001. It was about internet business opportunities.

Epenzio also had a representative there. The woman from H.O.M.E. Inc. did all of the talking during the seminar.

At one point she talked about getting a merchant account to go with a web site that she was selling. She said that we would receive a "physical terminal" so we could accept credit cards in person as well as through the internet.

At no time did the Epenzio rep. correct her in anything she said. Based on the information that we would receive a "physical terminal" I signed a contract for a merchant account.

When we went to sign the paperwork, I asked the Epenzio rep. when we would receive the physical terminal. She told me it would be at least a month because they would have to see if I was approved for the merchant account first.

After I did not receive the physical terminal after about seven or eight weeks, I called Epenzio, and was told by the customer service rep. that their rep. should not have told me I would receive a physical terminal.

I found out the owners email address and contacted him to try and resolve the problem. He told me that he talked to his rep. that was there that night and that he thinks the "misunderstanding" was that she was talking about a "manual imprinter" not a "physical terminal".

AT NO TIME DID SHE SAY THE WORDS "MANUAL IMPRINTER", and there was absolutely no doubt to her or me what she was talking about!

He admitted that there was alot of confusion at these seminars, but refused to cancel the contract, and I reminded him that some people will take advantage of that confusion and say whatever it takes to get the signature on the contract!

He offered to send me a used physical terminal, but I had to send more money. Then he said I would not have to send more money to receive the physical terminal.

Since I felt like I had been called a liar, I did not think this was a company I wanted to have a business relationship with, so I declined his offer.

Everybody beware of these shady companies that participate at these seminars. All they want is your signature on a contract and then all they want is their money.

I have filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission also and suggest anybody do that that has been ripped off. And do not waste your time with the BBB like I did. They did not do anything!

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... click here to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
