I went to FreeCreditReport.com and obtained reports from Experian and TransUnion without issue. After providing answers to security questions for the Equifax report, the system rejected my request saying "Online Delivery Unavailable Mail in Request" and "We're sorry, for your protection we are unable to deliver your Equifax Free Annual Credit Report online." I then attempted the same directly through their website, which does not offer the "FREE" option without using FreeCreditReport.com. So I looked into other products they sell on the Equifax website and found one for "Credit Report & Score". I was curious to see if they would reject my request for my "protection". Within seconds after making payment, I was able to review and print my entire report. For my protection? Really? SO WHY WERE THERE NO SECURITY QUESTIONS AFTER MY PAYMENT WAS MADE FOR THE SAME REQUEST? Money. That's why. They seem to be skirting the free annual report requirement. All or most questions of their "security" questions via FreeCreditReport.com seem arbitrary and unrelated to the consumer, which is likely leading to high (delivery) rejection rates for consumers' online requests and high profits from those consumers' looking to avoid sending their personal data via the US Postal Service (i.e. Social Security card, Pay stub with Social Security Number, W2 form, Driver's license, Rental or lease agreement/house deed, Pay stub with address, Utility bill). I want my $15.95 back ASAP!!! If a lawyer is willing, please contact me.

I meant to write ANNUALcreditreport.com (not 'free')

AUTHOR: KOTMIC - ()

Yes, thanks. In fact, I mistakendly wrote 'free' instead of 'annual'. Unfortunately there does not appear to be an EDIT feature in this report. To clarify, the site I used which lead to my writing this report was indeed annualcreditreport.com. The image I included in this report (left window in image) is a screen shot of Equifax's response to my seemingly impossible security questions. I don't fault annualcreditreport.com because they merely redirected me to Equifax's website, which handled my request poorly until I paid $15.95.

What I would like to know, and I think the government should be interested as well, is what are the success rates of these security questions for free reports with all 3 credit reporting agencies? It's my suspicion that Equifax might have a very high rate in comparison to the other 2. If so, is it intentional — to drive consumers to buy their reports instantly online versus having to mail in their very personal information.

The site to use for your annual, government mandated credit report is...

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

annualcreditreport.com

It will give you a free annual report for each of the three bureaus, but does NOT include a free Credit Score, that is charged for if you want itt.
