I would warn anyone to seriously think twice before handing over your hard earned money to Excelsior College. The CPNE exam is set up to fail you. They keep changing the requirement over the years. When I started the course the sterile dresing change was a simple maneuver. Then they changed it. They way they want you do it on the exam would consume most of your time. Imagine working in a nursing home where you have to change dressings on several residents and using their standard?

In my case the instructor failed me when the patient refused to let me continue the procedure after he agreed I can restart it later after I finihsed up other procedures. She said I should have gone back and tried again even though the patient got real testy and told me in no uncertain terms that he had enough of the examination. She took that as an excuse to fail me. After I documented the exam she reviewed it then called me and said the CA wants to talk to me. They both agreed that I had enough time to finish the exam and I should have tried again even though I objected that the patient refused.

I filed a complaint with the appeals committe. They claimed that I never went back to finish the procedure as I said I would. They also claimed I placed the patient in a side lying postion which for that procedure would have resulted in a failure. If that were true then the argument that I never returned to finish the procedure would be unnecessary since placing the patient in the side lying position would have resulted in a failure.

I filed a complaint with a government agency that stated they don't have enough information to make a decision. Throught the freedom of information act I was able to look at the documents that they provided to the government agency. Right away I saw that Excelsior doctored the copy of the exam where I wrote a statement rebutting what the CE wrote. She actually doctored in that I placed the patient in a side lying postion. She did that because in my complaint to the government agency I stated that placing the patient in a side lying postion would have been enough to fail me. And the  pretext that I did not return to continue the procedure I was instructed to do was fabricated.

The government agency took four and a half years to review my appeal even after the district office had told me that they would have to go to court to have Excelsior provide the original document. By that time there was a lawsuit against Excelsior College that so happened to be coming up in the Eastern District in Brooklyn, NY. I joined that lawsuit as a plaintiff. But Excelsior used the statute of limitations to have me removed from the case. So that is what saved them. But they were not so successful with other plaintiffs who were within the statute of limitations and eventually they settled. So my advice do not rely on any government agency. Had I gone into regular state court with the documents I got from the freedom of information they most likely would have settled because they would have find it very hard to find a jury agreeable to them providing a doctored document to the appeals committee while providing the original document with my original handwriting to the court.

And as for those people on here posting rebuttals claiming to be students believe me if you're a real nurse the last thing you got is time on your hands to be searching the internet to support a crooked institution like Excelsior College. I would quicker understand if the staff of Excelsior came out and concede they are staff and they are paid to do these bogus posts. But to claim you are students who passed the CPNE is the height of hypocrisy and insult. You keep telling people it's their fault for failing and they should have studied harder. Well I am proof that studying hard is irrelevant if you will be set up to be a victim of fraud.

I read glassdoor to check out some companies and how they treat their employees. I have read both positive and negative reviews on companies. But one thing I never read is people going on there trying to demean and contradict another employee's negative experience or even positive experience. And that is the way it should be. I'm living proof that none of your bogus rebuttals should be taken seriously. I used to go to the federal court and I heard just about all the motions from each side. And unlike state courts it's not easy to bring a case into federal court becuse the clerk of th court looks for any reason to throw out cases before it gets to a federal judge and a magistrate lower judge who also worked on the case.

My advice if you still insist on signing up with Excelsior College then ask to get contacts of former students who have passed the CPNE and have a conversation with them. Also the exam is pass or fail unlike conventional exams where they are graded then if you go below a certain metric you fail. So you can do everything correct but you can be off on one element of the exam and you fail. So that's something to consider along with the expenses of the exam, your travel and time.
