EXPO/The Home Depot EXPO/The Home Depot - Cornelia Williams Took 100% of our money-paid in full, did not complete job & will not commit to a finish date Atlanta Nashville, Georgia Tennessee
*Consumer Suggestion: Independent contractors
I am disabled; I do not work - on social security and have a fixed income! In March of 2007 my wife and I went to Expo Design Center / Home Depot, they sold us a remodeling project (over $75,000.00) for our kitchen and master bath. They said it all must be paid up front before the work started, and we trusted a big company so we paid them in March 2007. They said it would be completed by Oct. 2007, a year and a half later - they still are not done.
I have contacted BBB in Feb. of this year for help (I have all the communications / documentation in a file on my PC) they are no help to getting this resolved/completed. Please help! Thank you.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Independent contractors

You did not pay Home Depot/Expo to do this. You paid an independent contractor. The complaint is with the contractor. The Home Depot provides finding an independent contractor as a service to customers. They do not warranty or guarantee the work.
The BBB is an organization, not a government agency. BBB participation is voluntary.
!) Never pay in full prior to the completion of the work. Pay part, but not all. If this is not acceptable find another contractor.
2) Always ask for proof of insurance, proof of bond, and proof of license (if the person is supposed to be licensed) before paying any money and before signing a contract. Verify these.
3) Check for complaints against the contractor before paying any money and before signing a contract.
