First Investors is a very unprofessional company. I have dealt with many creditors, but First Investors was totally beyond belief.
It started when it took over 2 weeks for my payments to reach their Atlanta office. I would get at least 6 phone calls a day, even after I had told them that the payment had been mailed. Once they received the payment, they would stop calling.
The next 5 months were a confusing mess of doubled payments, credits, yelling and demands by First Investors. They denied any wrong-doing and never apologized for being rude and disrespectful.
After 3 months of dealing with them, I was beginning to get confused about which month I had paid and which I had not. After 5 months, it was totally confusing and I tired of explaining the situation over and over.
Next thing I know, they tell me that I'm 2 months past due and the caller ID on my phone would be filled full of calls from First Investors every single day, as many as 8 calls a day. I felt harassed. When I called them, they would yell at me and demand that I make payment arrangements immediately. I offered to make payment arrangements at a date in the very near future, but they wouldn't hear of it. I had to make a payment now.
I called the Attorney General's office for Georgia and was told that they would investigate. In the end, I was told that I would have to take them to court and sue. It would cost me more than double the amount I owed to sue and I couldn't afford it.
After 5 months of dealing with First Investor's rudeness, yelling, demanding, being called a liar and a thief, calling my husband on the job (which almost cost him his job) and calling friends and family, First Investors repossessed my truck. My husband had sent a cease and desist letter to First Investors asking them to not call him at work and even quoted the law.
I called First Investors to make sure they had repossessed my truck and it had not been stolen. They put me on hold and transferred me to an account rep. He informed me that he was determined to repossess my truck due to the fact that: (1) I never answered my phone (but, I did call First Investors at least once a week) and (2) my husband's cease and desist letter asking First Investors not to call his employer, family or friends.
I was completely shocked at this type of behavior from a creditor. I never had any creditor talk to me in this manner. First Investors are very unprofessional and resort to ruthless, harassing, aggressive behavior and demand complete conformity.
They were unwilling to be kind, respectful or understanding while talking to me on the phone. Never once did they offer a deferment or any type of payment arrangement.
I am actually very glad they repossessed my truck. I don't have to deal with them or the harassing phone calls all day long, even on Sundays.
First Investors is the only creditor I have that talks to me in such an unprofessional manner. If my report warns one person, then it has served its purpose. Caveat Emptor! Let the buyer beware!

My husband and I delt with them and go out quick...

My husband and I both got 2 cars and financed with First Investors Financial Services. At one time we made payments at the same time on the two different accounts. They messed up so bad that they applied both payments on one account and didn't apply anything on the other.
We even found an attorney that sent them a letter to stop harrasing us and that they needed to correct the problem. Well, they never did. My husband and I ended up trading in both cars and getting two other cars. I miss the car that I did have, but we no longer wanted to deal with them anymore.
I agree with you that you got out when you could.
