I too received a pre-approved credit card certificate with a guaranteed credit limit of $10,500. I usually don't fall for this kind of scam. I was sceptical about it and read it carefully, but First National is very clever in their wording about the use of the card, "purchases from credit provider," which I did not realize until I had read some of the other postings on this site.

I scanned a copy of the certificate in my computer before I sent my $45 in and I am going to forward it to the TV news magazines like Good Morning America, 20/20, Oprah, and any other popular TV show and let the country know what other kinds of terrorism is out there.

This has been very upsetting. Since the economy has taken a turn for the worse, and since the September 11th tragedy, I have lost my job and about to loose about everything else. I thought this opportunity was a Godsend and was going to get me through these hard times, but I guess not.

I called the number and it is junk. What a joke. I was ripped off today and hopefully me bank will reverse the charges. I didn't even get a card to buy their crap. I just got flat out ripped off. I will get justice and to everyone else BEWARE. I applied online and they got me for 100 bucks. Now I can't even find the sight. I will I am sure it will take time but is was one of those instant approval deals, and they were checking with the best cards.

I also received the First Option Credit pre-approved platinum offer. One look at it and I thought Yeah! this simply can't be true. At a 2.9%apr for 24 months, there had to be a catch. I read every little bit of fine print and saw that perhaps there was a second sheet of information missing, you know, the one that gives you all the important information you need to know before even accepting the offer.

Since there wasn't any additional information concerning my rights and the rights of the credit card company, I felt uneasy and decided to do some investigation before sending my $$$ in for processing.. The first place I thought to look was on the web...Low and behold, Google brought me right to your web site. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

The big bold heading of your web site was all I needed to see...reading about all the other rip-offs was a mind expanding experience. These fly by night, money making, un-american scums, need to be stopped.

How dare they try to get $$$ from good people who simply want to save money by having a lower rate of interest. And, how dare they say they are on the "up and up" when they already have your money before you even know you have been taken for a ride.

We do need to come together and inform people of this rip-off. I mean, why respond to a suite # and an offer that provides no phone numbers of their own.

I just recieved this approval in the mail yesterday

AUTHOR: Marsha - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 11, 2002

I received this same guaranteed acceptance for $10,000.00 line of credit for a platinum card at 2.9% for the first 24 months. I normally just tear these up and throw them away, but I wanted to research the company's web site for more information, and this is the only web site I found.

There are to many people being taken for, that we as a nation need to stand together and fight back. I did not throw this letter away nor am I going to send it in. If you need this please let me know and I will be glad to help in anyway I can.

Thank You,

What they REALLY say:

Quote:"We do realize that there are companies out there like ours, but we clearly state on the back of our approval certifacate in paragraph six, that we are not affiliated with visa m/c American express, or any other major credit card companies. We offer financing when you select any of our high quality items in our catalog, for only 29.9% APR for 24 months regardless of your credit history."

Above statement restated in more understandable terms to the average layman:

"We realize that we are part and parcel to a group of entities out to defraud the public. Buried in the fine print, you will find evidence to this fact. We are, in no way, affiliated with any legitimate financial group offering any useful products or services. We are willing to extend "credit" to those with poor credit history for several reasons: [1]We derive income from the application fees for the faux 'credit card'. [2]In the chance that someone DOES actually order something from our catalogue, the required 'down payment' more than covers the cost of the grossly overpriced goods. [3]If any payments ARE made, they are, therefore, pure profit, and the nearly usurous 30% is also quite profitable. We welcome anyone with a poor credit history, because we basically get our money "up front", sell only overpriced 'foo foo' items and are therefore covered against any loss. PLEASE, please apply at once. (Uhhh, don't forget your 'application fee')"

Sent in $39.00 two months ago and no response.

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 09, 2002

I sent in 39.00 two months ago to First Option. I have no issues with credit.

First option has cashed my check and the stamp on the back appears to be from an actual company and not an individual running a PO Box.

There is no way that someone getting this in the mail could determine that it is only for ordering things out of a catalog. I cut the bottom part off the certificate and kept the top half. What my offer said was that I was pre-approved for a platinum card at 2.9% for 24 months. and was signed by a Mr. Michael Smith.

They offer a 30 day money back guarrantee, but at this rate they have now had my 39.00 for 60 days and will probably take 60 days to refund my money.

Looks like a shell game to me. They can float my 39.00 along with all the other contributions for 6 months easily. This is a stone cold RIPOFF and we really need to figure out a way to get double our money back and shut these people down.

we are not affiliated with visa m/c American express, or any other major credit card

We do realize that there are companies out there like ours, but we clearly state on the back of our approval certifacate in paragraph six, that we are not affiliated with visa m/c American express, or any other major credit card companies. We offer financing when you select any of our high quality items in our catalog, for only 29.9% APR for 24 months regardless of your credit history.

You pay a one time membership fee for as long as you are a member and we will not cancel your membership for lack of usage. We are sorry people feel this way, but we are financing many people who are not able to walk into a retail store to purchase electronics, house wears, and many other products by using a major credit card. The fact that you can't use it anywhere other than our merchandise catalog like any department store doesn't make it a ripp off.

We are not FIRST NATIONAL CREDIT as your letter states.
