I was contacted by First Union Financial Services Group seeing if I was in need of a loan.
I said yes and i faxed them all the info that they required.
Then they asked me to Western Union them the first 4 payments plus insurance money just in case I was to lose my job they would make the payments.
So i did what they asked and the next day i was contacted and thay said that they did receive my western union in the amount of $822.22. They also said that once they received the money it would be around 24-48 hours before i would see any money.
Well here it is a week later and still nothing. I have called and left messages and no one has responded.

the same thing happened with me, but the company's so called name is greentree capital group. again, they wanted collateral payment upfront... and the money was wired to canada.... seems western union needs to give us, the consumer some sort of red flag, especially about wiring money to canada.... i am normally not someone to fall for a scam, but in this care, they contacted me, had all my pertinent info as well as the dollar amount for the loan i was looking for.... seems we've all been duped.....

Scammers will often use the same or a similar name to a legitimate company. So,it's not enough to just do a cursory web check.
Think about this scam like this:
If someone wants you to send $1,000.00 as security for a $6,000.00 loan, just tell them to take the $1,000.00 out of the $6,000.00 check and to send you $5,000.00.It's the same thing.
Also, file a complaint with First Union Bank.First Union needs to go after people who are using a similar name to perpetrate their scams. And First Union has the resources to get results. You can also file a complaint with Western Union, they should have a better warning system.
You also need to take immediate action to prevent identity theft, because you sent them all of your critical information in your loan application.
If you sent them bank account or credit card info.,immediately call the cards as lost or stolen(compromised)and change your bank accounts.
Also, get copies of your credit reports at least once a month. Activate a fraud alert if you think you should. You're entitled to one free report per year from Equifax,Experian and TransUnion.Go to annualcreditreport.com
They might sell your info in underground chat rooms.Get Zone Alarm security for your PC that includes ID theft protection,it watches the web for your info.
Also,go to intelius and get a comprehensive background check for yourself.
There are also other places to file complaints, like the FTC.
Remember, people, trust your instincts. When you get that uneasy feeling;it's trying to tell you something.LISTEN! And investigate everything.
(Also,a friendly note:Their and procedure:)
Good Luck.

Suggestion for Kandis
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Kandis,
There should have been all sorts of red flags here.
No reputable financial organization seeks you out to se if you need a loan, and advance fee loans are illegal.
The second red flag is paying the fees with Western Union. No reputable bank/financial institution uses Western Union for payments.
Anyone asking you to pay by Western Union should be avoided. Go to the Western Union website to read all about these scams.
Like the other person said, it is all about using common sense. You need to contact the FBI Financial Crimes unit and file a report and give them whatever documentation you have as well as any contact info, phone records, etc. The fax# you used can be traced, as well as the ID presented to collect the Western Union payment.
Always check someone out before sending money.

when it comes to getting loans. when people are approved for loans, you would never have to pay up front to legitimate banks. this is a scam and Western Union has an article on their website.
