My story is just like everyone elses, on 2/2/09 I too was taken advantage of. I assumed that because their company is on t.v. that it was legit and because it's a law fim. They got me for $1165.00 so far, the first payment of 3. A very nice gentleman by the name of Eric Sachs(x6103) explained the usual pitch, how they could get my loan modified possibly as low as 4 percent and might even lower the balance of the loan. That I could pay my mortgage company the 6k I was behind or give his company $3495 to modify my loan......I was sold. He said a compliance manager would call me to go over what he told me.

Amber Newberry(x5722) was my first case manager who I found out about 2 weeks ago no longer works for the company. I spoke with her a total of maybe 4 times in the 45 days. Even when I faxed her a copy of the summon's the sherrif's department delivered, she said she'd call me back to advise me but never did. I missed the compliance manager's call (whose name I don't remember) and she was not available when I called her back.

The first of March you best believe Eric was on the horn trying to process the 2nd payment!! I explained to him that I did not have it and to try me later in the month. A couple of weeks later Jeff with the finance department called to process the March payment. Also I received a message from Kimberly stating she was helping Amber out with my case and she needed some more information. I thought what in the world!!!

The compliance lady did catch me one day, the coversation seemed strange to me. Basically she tried to get me to agree that no one from FLM gave me any guarantee's or told me to stop paying my mortgage. I stopped her short when she asked me did I fully understand the refund policy. She told me that it's not her job to explain it to me, that I needed to speak to the person who I initially spoke to and ended the call.

I phoned Eric back to voice my concerns on March 20th. I told him that I did not feel comfortable giving them any more money until they showed me some results! How Amber was never available, at which point he told me she did not work there any longer. I told him to cancel it all, he said he understood my concerns and that he would "process my refund".

According to the refund policy on the documents from them it should take 10 business days via check. I emailed Eric a couple days ago to inquire as to the process. He replied back immediately from his blackberry that he had a family emergency so he was out of the office but to call the main number and enter prompt #2, it was customer service. I had to leave a message. I called back a few times since and it kept going to voice mail until an hour ago. A young lady answered the phone, I explained to her that I wanted to know the status of my refund. She asked my name, put me on hold, then came back on stating she would have to find out the details and call me back. I'm thinking YEAH RIGHT!!!

So far they have not tried to steal any funds from my account or call me requesting anymore. I found it interesting that they kept calling to get permission to "process another payment". Either way, obviously I'm going to lose my property but at this point I really just want my money back to help with my move. Has anyone anywhere ever gotten a refund from FLM, let alone a modification?

doubts on keeping it real

AUTHOR: Erikweste - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 18, 2009

I too, have been scammed by this company and filed many complaints today including one here on ripoff report. I have my doubts on the legitimacy of the post by "Keeping it Real". Since FLM Law worked on a % of home value, I find it quite interesting that you happened to have talked to the same guy "Eric" and had a home value of the exact same price as the person to which you rebutted and you had a perfectly good and valuable experience. I smell an FLM rat.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You pulled out 1 month into a 3 month process?

AUTHOR: Keeping It Real - (U.S.A.)

I read your rant and I just had to comment. Unlike many of the comments here, I am a satisfied customer of FLM Law Center. My wife and I contacted them in Mid December, 2008. We spoke with the same person (Eric S. at Ext: 6103). Eric was VERY informative and VERY professional. He explained to us that a loan modification was going to take anywhere from 1 month to 3 months to complete. He was very personable and addressed all our concerns. He even explained to us that his company's service was OPTIONAL and that we could try to get our lender to do the loan modification on our own if we were so inclined. We decided to hire FLM and I'm so glad we did!

In late Feb, 2009 our case manager (Justin) called to let us know that our lender agreed to modify our loan! We were able to reduce our rate from 9.875 to 5.25% and our payment dropped more than 1/2! Also, they were able to stop our foreclosure and bring our account current (we were about 36K behind when we started this process with FLM). I was able to reach Eric everytime I called and he was very good about returning calls when we missed him and left a message.

I paid them $3,495.00 in three monthly installments of $1,165.00. It was the best 3500 bucks we have ever spent.

I read your complaint carefully and felt an compelled to bring up the following points. Nothing personal here.. just trying to keep it real:

1. You seem to have agreed to the same payment plan that we did (3 monthly payments of 1,165.00/month) right? But when they called to request the 2nd payment, you refused to pay it!

2. You say that Eric was a "nice guy" and didn't indicate that you ever had a hard time reaching him.

3. You were contacted by their compliance people AND a case manager (Amber Newberry).

4. You decided to pull out of the process ONE MONTH into it... when I'm sure you were advised that a loan modification could take up to 3 months.

I'm sorry but I just don't see where you have ANY grounds to file this complaint. If anything, I think the company would be within their rights to complain against you! You agreed to a payment plan, then didn't keep up the payments (probably not too dissimilar to the way you have keept up your mortgage payments which is probably why you needed their help to begin with). You didn't have any evidence that they weren't doing the job that you DIDN'T FINISH PAYING THEM TO DO.. and then, you pulled out early and slandered them in an open forum.

I'm asking myself: Where is your motivation? Are you just trying to get your refund? I'm sure the company will refund your money and if they don't, at least they got paid for the months worth of work that they did on your behalf before you pulled-out early. If you are trying to keep other homeowners away from FLM, I hope this site posts this reply because without them, we would have lost our home and would be on the street right now!

To everyone else: If you are struggeling with a mortgage, call your mortgage company to see if they will work with you. If they won't, give Federal Loan Modification a call and if you are lucky, Eric will be the person on the other end of the line.
