I went to Fordriver Engine Services because my car's engine was bad. It threw a rod and needed to be replaced or rebuilt.

I gave them a $1,000 deposit to start the job, but I did not get their quote of $2,900 in writing - I just took the guys word and gave him my money on a handshake. Later I found out that is illegal and they MUST always give a quote.

They were the lowest quote from several places I checked with, so that was why I gave them the job.

They said it would take about two weeks, but they MISSED THEIR COMPLETION DATE by three weeks because of some lame excuse about a mechanic out sick, plus a part he forgot to order had to be shipped from New York. So I had to pay for a rental car for five whole weeks!!@

When the job was finally done I went in to pay the bill and pick up my car, and the guy said the bill was $3,900, not the $2,900 he quoted me.

He said I misunderstood, and the job was quoted for $3,900 with a $2,900 balance when I picked it up, but he quoted me $2,900 total AND THAT WAS THE only REASON i GAVE THEM THE JOB!

OTHER PLACES THAT GAVE ME WRITTEN QUOTES SAID THEY WOULD DO IT FOR $3,100 TO $3,500 - !!

tHEY HAD MY CAR, SO I PAID, BUT THEY SCAMMED ME OUT OF $1,000 AND THE GUY ACTUALLY SAID "Tough S**t" when I said I had better quotes elsewhere.

Then the car started to leak oil and they would not fix it. What a BS company! Stay away from them - they are cheaters and thieves who do not stand behind their work!!

We quoted $3,900 in writing and the customer signed it!

AUTHOR: Thomas Morgan, Owner - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 19, 2017

We have a signed quote from this customer and we gave him a copy when he gave us a deposit to do the engine rebuild. Our quote WAS HIGHER than the others because when we checked the vehicle before we took the job we discovered that his car needed a new catalytic converter - so we included that in the quote he signed.

We told him verbally the balance would be $2,900, and he said OK so we did the job. It was late, but that was because we needed extra parts and the warehouse we order from was out of stock. The warehouse told us they could ship the needed parts in a couple of days, but it took them almost two weeks. Then it took us another week to finish the job.

The customer was rude and started swearing at my mechanic when he got his final bill and said we never gave him a written quote. The mechanic went to get our copy and show him his signature, but he would not even look at it. He paid the balance and left, after cussing us out again.

We did a good job. The oid leak he complained about resulted from an oil change at another location and the filter was not tighteened properly. We looked at it, and the filter threads had been stripped so we had to replace that part and he started swearing at us again and left.
