#2 Consumer Suggestion
I was scammed by them too

My husband and I both bought our credit reports from freecreditreport.com in May. I knew there would be the charge of $24.95 for each report which was fine. The next month I saw that they charged my credit card again for $12.95 for each report. I called and the woman I spoke with told me that this was a one time fee to keep access to the reports and monitoring and that my card would never be charged again.
The next month I had the same two charges. I called and spoke with someone who told me that since I didn't cancel my subscription that I would be charged $12.95 every month for each report. I called them up and threatened to dispute the latest charges if they weren't refunded. The man I spoke with processed the refund and cancelled both accounts for me. Since then they haven't charged me.

By requesting your credit reports through them, you have actually signed up for a credit monitoring service. Thus the monthly charge against your credit card. All this, of course, is stated in very small, white type during their commercials.
Call the number listed next to the entry on your credit card statement and cancel the monitoring service, if that is what you wish to do.
For the truely free crdeit report, you would need to use annualcreditreport.com. You can only request a copy once in a 12 month period (and still get it free).
