Garden Homes by E.L. - Garden Homes Inc Stopped working on my house, stole money and defaulted on contract. south bend, Indiana

Garden Homes was contracted to build our house and lied throughout the whole process. They were suppose to start the foundation within a week of closing, but it took them 5 weeks. We received every possible answer from Soil, other houses and weather. The weather was great for 2 weeks.

Next we started asking questions about timelines and pricing on upgrades and were told they dont have timelines, the house will be finished when it gets finished and pricing took forever to get in our hands.

Response times were 2-3weeks for just about every question and they would only repond when we would call and call after 2-3 weeks.

Owner was rude and beligerant. called me immature, impatient person and that if we wanted our home built by them, we had to think and act the way they wanted.

Wrong shingles were put on the house even after they verified the color 3 times before they were delivered.

Closet location was not correct, due to builder giving the framer the 1st set of plans and not the latest (which were approved weeks before the framing started)

Septic was installed in the wrong location due to builder not sending updated plans to the city for approval.

All work had stopped at the end of July and the answers I received were everything from there are other houses that are being done first, the subs are not responding, we are not sure whats going on, than I sent a nasty letter to the owner asking why there was a lien and why subs were not getting paid. His response was he didnt know what was going on and that he would get answers and get back to me when he had them and for me not to contact him anymore till he had answers.

There are 4 subs who have not been paid and there is $52,000 unaccounted for. Our house has sat for4 months with no work.

Had to file a lawsuit against the company and the owner
