I opened a credit card account with Pearle Vision/ GE Money bank to pay for my glasses. Once I received the bill, I paid IN FULL. This was in May 2005. I just checked my credit report, on a whim, and found a "negative" item. GEMB claims I still owed them money. According to the report I payed them $10 a month for several months then stoped paying. They cashed my check five days after it was mailed ($354.45). There is no record of that in the credit report. I NEVER received a bill or phone call from the company or collection agency. They claim I still owed $30 now with the late payments, it's $174!! I WILL fight this!

I called Pearle to get the exact amount owed ($354.45). I then called Ge Money Bank and talked to a supervisor. What happened was they had the amount at $354.95 AND after the first statement, the wrong address. So for 50 cents, I was being charged back intrest on the full amount. Ge doesn't know where the 95 instead of 45 came from. The will write to the credit companies to have it removed from my credit report. Pearle Vision was outstanding at helping me. The manager from the store told me he was willing to fight this with me.
