My mother was sent a check in the mail from this "secret shopper" program for $2,870.00. The accompanying letter said to cash the check, transfer the funds to her account and then send a check for another amount back to them.
This is a scam. The check is fake, but so realistic that banks can't tell. They cash the check before noticing that it is fake. Since the check is fake you are held responsible for the balance and end up paying the bank and the "secret shopper" company.
The real, legitimate secret shopper organization does not ask for money or charge for anything.
