Gerson's Fine Watch Repair Gerson Chavez Damaged my dive watch bezel. San Francisco CALIFORNIA

Do not take any fine watches to Gerson Chavez for any work other than a battery change, if that!! I took my Marathon JSAR 300m dive watch in for an analysis of why the second hand was intermittently stopping in the same location.

I asked Gerson if he could handle this and of course he said yes, he even mentioned he had just serviced another Marathon watch not so long ago. Keep in mind, I have known Gerson for many years and he seemed competant with battery changes, crystal replacements and bracelet re-sizings. So I left my watch with Gerson for the servicing and a week later (3 days ago) I pick up my watch which Gerson says is now fixed after changing out a very small timing wheel/ gear.

The watch seemed fine at the time (time will tell if he actually fixed the problem, but upon attempting to work the bezel I found it frozen in place, unable to rotate it in the proper counter clockwise unidirectional direction. Mind you again, I am a PADI certified diver and own several modern dive watches and understand why the dive bezel only rotates counter clockwise (unidirectional), this is because in the event you are diving and the bezel is set for the known capacity of air supply time and the bezel is unintentionally rotated, it will only rotate to give you less time not more time.

A safety feature of all modern dive watches. Gerson did not understand this fact and the only way it was no longer rotating counter clockwise is because it was forcibly rotated clockwise thereby bending the bezel click stop flanges under the bezel in the opposite direction as intended. When I attempted to explain this to Gerson he immediately became hostile and said that I should call the factory to determine which way the bezel should rotate.

The bezel would rotate clockwise but in a grinding unnatural fashion in an attempt to see if it would go back to rotating properly, counter clockwise. The watch was brought in with a properly functioning bezel. This is actually an easy fix, but Gerson was not owning up to what he did not know about dive watch bezels or what he had done to damage my dive watch bezel.

His knowledge or lack thereof should be noted and made known to the public!!

Gerson clearly does not possess the all around knowledge or skills necessary to advertise as a "Fine Watch Repair" shop. 

He does know how to change batteries, I'll give him that!!!

This last bit is for you, Gerson, hopefully you read all your reviews, "ALL MODERN DIVE WATCHES THAT HAVE BEZELS ROTATE COUNTER CLOCKWISE", for the safety reasons explained above!!!! Now you know something new and your treatment of me was shameful and disgraceful!!! This is probably why you cannot afford your rent.
