I ordered a remanufactured engine from an Ebay seller name Ghasson Automotive. He advertised an N55 engine for $3995 with an additional $1500 core charge for my old engine, and $700 shipping the new engine and return of the core for a total of $6195. Since this was posted on Ebay I made the mistake of not performing the transaction via Ebay as the seller asked me to wire him the money.

I immediately wired the money to this seller and he said I would receive the engine in 4 days. I rented a car for $51 per day thinking that 4 days plus another day or two for installation wouldn't be too bad. After 5 days I have no engine and I contact the seller and he doesn't get back to me that same day so now I am worried that I might have been scammed.

Finally the next day he gets back with me and says the engine did not ship out yet but will ship shortly. After another week of waiting, I contact him again and he says the weather was bad so he couldn't ship the engine but it will certainly ship by Friday. Friday comes and no engine. I call and text this guy and he does not get back to me until Monday and says he was at a car show and didn't have time to ship the engine.

Mind you I paid him $6195 immediately but he cannot send my engine out as stated because he is too busy. Had he told me this process would take 3 weeks I could have found an engine sooner. Finally, he ships the engine after 22 days of waiting and $1210 in car rental fees. When the engine arrives at the mechanics' shop, it is dirty and doesn't look like it was a remanufactured engine.

The mechanic says the engine is missing some bolts and some are loose. He installs the engine and finds that the engine is leaking oil everywhere and there is a camshaft oil pressure code coming up. I try to get in touch with Ghasson but no answer for a few days. Finally, he says the mechanic doesn't know what he is doing. He asks for pics and a video of the oil leak and when we send them he says he cannot see them.

The engine will not run as it seems as if the timing is off. This mechanic spends two weeks going back and forth with Ghasson trying to get the engine right but Ghasson doesn't return calls or answer calls from the mechanics' number. After 3 weeks of this, the mechanic tells me that he cannot spend any more time on this engine. I have the engine shipped to my personal mechanic Arthur has to remove the engine and take it apart to find out what is wrong with it.

Finally, he finds that Ghasson has installed the intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets backward. Furthermore, Arthur says that the chain guides are brown which means the engine was used and the parts not replaced. Normally the guides are white but these were brown which you can see in the video. After talking with Ghasson he says this is not his engine. I mean are you serious? I paid $6195 for you to deny this is your engine?

So Arthur places the camshaft sprockets in their proper place and we end up paying $1600 more for labor. At this point Ghasson is responsible for putting the intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets in backward causing the engine to not run properly. He continues to deny this is his engine and now wants us to read him the engine serial number. This is not easy to access with the engine installed and he is asking for unreasonable demands.

Arthur spends 3 hours trying to get the engine serial number and after we give him the number he states that it is not his engine. When he sent the Bill of Lading, there was no serial number for the engine and there was never a serial number on any of the documents that he sent to us. After going back and forth with him for a few weeks, he says I will help you guys out by refunding the $1500 for the used core and the $350 for the unused shipping charge.

After waiting a week for him to send the money he claims he wants us to sign some documents stating we are settling this and will not pursue further action. I told him if he returns that amount we will not hold him liable from this point. Well as you can guess, he will not send the money and says that he needs our drivers' license to do this. There is no way I am giving him my drivers license!

At this point, he has not even returned my $350 charge for shipping that I paid in advance but never used. This guy only cares about the money. He claims to rebuild over 700 BMW engines per year and he cannot take care of a customer that received an engine that was not properly rebuilt?

Arthur also said that after flushing this engine oil four times, there are metal shavings in the oil and this engine will not last. I spent well over $10,000 messing around with this inconsiderate, scamming person. If you do any transactions with them, PLEASE, do not wire money but use PayPal or Ebay so you have recourse.
