Sure you can! You make get arrested, prosecuted and then jailed for doing it, but you are certainly free to make the attempt. Making a photo copy of a coupon is also called counterfeiting. The word counterfeit does not apply ONLY to currency. Can you say counterfeit designer clothes? How about counterfeit watch, handbag, or jeans?

You made a counterfeit coupon and they didn't honor it-no ripoff, except perhaps by YOU, for NOT PURCHASING the newspaper so you could legally cut out the coupon (around here, if you cut go into a store and cut the coupons from the Buffalo News without paying for the paper, we call that STEALING.)

They could but they are NOT REQUIRED to do this, just as stores, banks, car dealers, etc. are not required to post signs that state that they will not accept counterfeit currency. Your logic is severely flawed.

The bottom line is that Giant Food makes up their rules as they go along. There is such a thing as "truth in advertising". If they don't want to honor a photocopy of a coupon, they can either have a sign posted at the store or have it directly on the coupon. They should just stick to one story and stay with it...not change when ever it suits them.

I am an associate of Giant Food Stores, although not the one in Maryland listed here.
The coupon for a free 25.00 gift card that the original poster is talking about is given to customers who have never filled a prescription at a Giant pharmacy. On the front it clearly states one per household. On the back side, it clearly states, Void if altered, or copied.
Photocopy is a Copy..therefore, his complaint is mute.. if he photocopied the original coupon, it is VOID.
This coupon is linked to the bonus card. This is how Giant Foods knows who has used their pharmacy, and who has not. ( no brainer there)
If the poster has recieved this coupon himself, and photocopied it, to try and recieve more then one gift card, he must present his bonus card with the coupon at the pharmacy to recieve the gift card...The pharmacy will obviously know thru the computer system, that he has redeemed one coupon already, and he would not be issued a second one.
If the poster has taken someone else's coupon and tried to photocopy it, to recieve a gift card that he is not entitled too, then this will be detected as well, because his bonus card would not show up as being due for a free card.
Any way you look at this, the poster here is trying to pull a SCAM, and it is ILLEGAL, and it takes alot of nerve for him to come to a public site and complain that GIANT will not allow him to get away with it.
This poster must be related to the individual I dealt with awhile back, who returned a bag of ice at the customer service desk, why you ask would he return a bag of ice, his response was " IT IS TOO FROZEN" Wake UP PEOPLE....

If not i've had my first chuckle of the morning. I can see why ripoff report does not verify ripoffs because half are meaningless. Just bring in the original one sir, and this will not be an issue. I mean why not pay with a copied five dollar bill? Cause it is not legal! Kinda obvious to me if you ask me!

There is no polite way to put it. The offer does not say Giant will give you a million dollar prize either, but it's common knowledge they will not do it. It's also common knowledge the actual coupon is needed, not something you made on a copier.
