It's a scam - don't contact them at all

There are so many things wrong with what they told you that I am 100% certain it is a scam.
An attorney doesn't file a "class action" to collect a debt under any circumstances.
You don't go to jail or the state penitentiary for non-payment of debt.
The attorney general is not a collection agent.
If it were a real collection, the debt collector is obligated by law to provide to you the original creditor information when you request it.
Clearly, according to your post, the "attorney" didn't follow any of the applicable laws. Find a legitimate credit and debt website(s) and study what is allowed in our country for debt, credit and collections. Don't contact these people. Contacting them shows that you are concerned about this bogus collection. Once you study and learn, you will no longer worry about this kind of contact as they revele themselves to be scammers just by the content of their email or phone call. Please don't send them any money whatsoever. Good luck.
