I went to Gordon's five years ago to get an SUV with my own credit. Although I was approved for the vehicle I wanted, I was told it would not improve my credit as well as buying and paying off a larger vehicle. Since I was all about building my credit I paired with a relative to get the larger vehicle. At the time I was told to pay on it for a year then I could refinance and lower my payments or trade it in whenever I wanted to get a different automobile. A year goes by, I got laid off and went to them to see about refinancing and getting a more economical vehicle. I'd already had to replace two faulty items on the vehicle and was feeling the strain. They informed me there was an age limit on vehicles of 5yrs and my SUV was exactly 1yr past that limit so I was stuck with it for the duration of the loan. They also told me I could not trade it in because of the economy that it would cost more to get a smaller vehicle than to just keep my deteriorating corpse of an SUV. I have since replaced the fuel pump, heater core, tye rod, ball joints, rotors, transmission (TWICE), transmission line (TWICE), intake unit and gasket, water system, electrical problems in the steering column and my auto speed control was kicking in at inopportune times and now does not work at all, my ABS system failed the first month I had the car and hasn't worked since, alternator and some kind of joint thing not to mention the countless normal wear and tear (breaks rotors tires etc) and to date I have spent more in repairs and towing and labor combined than the actual cost of the loan. Out of the five years I've been paying on it I have driven it less than 50% - literally, while struggling to maintain the $400 monthly payments plus full coverage insurance (as required). Keeping this in mind, I still went back to them to inquire about the cash for clunkers stimulus thinking since they sold me a lemon perhaps they could finally trade it in for a better car - something more than my measly 16mpg at least and that I wasn't paying $80 a week to fuel. Again I was told that wasn't possible and that there was no way to help me. Now my lovely SUV is in the shop again, my credit is ruined and I got zapped by the bank for dropping to partial coverage while my car was in the shop and my loan has been extended by an extra $2000 that while begging my loan officer to stave off the repo man he asked me why I didn't trade it in a long time ago. When I explained all of this to him, he was furious and said they had lied to me and that I could have traded this in YEARS ago regardless of age or loan status. He said they do it all of the time. He told me they did that because they didn't want this lemon back on their lot to try to sell again!!! He said I could have gone anywhere I wanted to switch to in order to get a better, more affordable car!!! He also told me I only have 3 months left on the loan and to pay it off and trade it in - NOT to go to Gordon's again and to contact the Better Business Bureau about their conduct and unethical approach and misinformation. Since finding this out I have heard at least FIVE other complaints about their lackluster repair shop and auto sales. So if you want a gas guzzling clunker that will cost you more than your home and obliterate your credit then I recommend this business, otherwise STEER CLEAR!!!!

Yeah, great service all right. My brother got a job in Nashville and was honest with them and told them what was going on and the got their payment like 6 days before he ever left and he got stranded half way there because they shut his car off. He was 4 hours away either direction from anyone he knows or could help and it was on a Sunday and no one was open at * in the morning except a pep boys who told him it was because the dealer shut it off with that wonderful little box/chip thing they do for non-payment or repo. He has the bank statement and the canceled check that they cashed the SAME DAY he gave it to them so he has proof they go their money and shut him off for no reason. Pep Boys couldn't do anything because they needed authorization to reset it or work on it or remove the chip so he sat there for hours trying to get a hold of someone and his dad and our mom tried desperately to plead his case and get authorization so he could get there. They were rude and ignorant and hung up on them and wouldn't help knowing he was so far away and stranded and they didn't care. Just ruthless and would give no reason, no contractual problems they were just plain dirty and underhanded. He has managed to get to Nashville but is stuck there for his first day on the job with no car!!! Great customer service - ZERO STARS out of 5

DON'T GO TO GORDON'S they're crooked. Don't go to Frye's TV and Appliance either - same poor customer care and they charge a lot and do NOTHING or at least as little as possible and they're the same group of people who own Gordon's. Swindlers.
