i bought some insulated copper wire at govliquidation.the description said it weighed  12,130 lbs 10 pallets and 291 boxes that weighed 1 1/2 lbs a piece at most. being generous i called boxes and pallets 1000 lbs.i weighed copper wire when i got home and noticed a  1200 lb difference,from what listing said.the forklift driver that loaded said they fudge on the weight on copper a lot when i mentioned upcoming lot with copper wire that they claimed weighed around 5 lbs a foot but was around 1/2 diameter  wire and 1100 ft and couldnt weigh 5000 lbs.this was at there oklahoma warehouse in oklahoma,city.i sent email request for them to weigh pallet of copper again and havnt got response yet.guess there not sure what to do getting there there hand caught in cookie jar.if they change the weight and buyers notice there was 3 0r 4000 lb discrepancy theyll be upset.they really be upset if they buy wire thinking it weighs almost 5000 lbs  when bidding starts you can inspect in person and i will request them to weigh it again.you can take dial caliper measure 1 copper strand and count how many strands total and know what it weighs if you know lenth of wire and where to look on internet and use smartphone calculator.
