My girlfriend was having an issue with her AirBag light on her car prior to us taking a small weekend trip. Everyday on her way to work, she drove by a repair shop on Boca Rio called Great Bear, so she thought that shop would be an ideal place to drop off her car before we left on our trip. Bad idea. My girlfriend signed the estimate paperwork and left her car to be checked and for them to call her when they put the scanner on the vehicle and found out what the problem was. She was aware that there was a $80 fee for checking the car with the scanner. This was a Saturday and she was told that the car would be checked on Monday.

Monday comes and no call from Great Bear. My girlfriend gives the shop a call at about 6:00pm, right at their closing time. A gentleman answers the phone and is extremely rude to my girlfriend. He tells her that they haven't touched her yet, and because of my girlfriend's urgence at getting the job done, they weren't going to do the work. My girlfriend told them, that if they haven't done the work, don't do it. The gentleman, and I use that term loosely, told her that wanted no part of her car or her business.

Tuesday, we get back from our trip and go directly over to Great Bear to pick up her vehicle. An arguement ensues with the owner of the garage. He claims that he did a scan on the vehicle and that there was no problem and if she wanted her car back, she had to pay the $80 fee. After realizing that they her car locked in the garage, she had no other choice than to pay the $80 fee.
Wednesday we take the car to another repair shop and tell them about the problem she had the previous day at Great Bear. The repair shop puts the vehicle on their scanner and it shows immediately there is a problem and that it would cost about $200. Repairs were done the same day and she hasn't had a problem since.

A week later, my girlfriend called her bank to dispute the charge from Great Bear. After explaining the events to her bank, and faxing over proof that work was not done, the bank refunded her money back to her and opened a case against Great Bear.

Please, if you live in the West Boca area and are in need of car repairs, AVOID Great Bear Automotive and Tire Center.

OP should be aware that the

owner of Great Bear might have run out of meds. It's possible! Question: What might be the factor(s) that caused the folk at GB to act this way? Only a moron would be disagreeable for no reason, and some reasons might be illegal.

Anyway, you used a credit card and you describe documentation that supports charge reversal for non-performance so you did everything right! It would seem that GB comes out behind.....
