just like the report i read about greendot. went and paid 9.95 to attivate plus put money on it. called and attivated my card and then they said that there was a 19.95 charge for what not sure could not understand the person. said that if i went online i could get a 10.00 dollar rebate put onto my card. went to the website and got this report from another person that this had happen to. i tried calling 3 different numbers but you never get to talk to anybody. this is not right and then u have to wait for 10 days to get your card. cant put no more money on the card unless you have the card. the piece of cardboard you get at the store does not work. this really messed up things for me for paying my bills cause i could not but the 19.95 back onto my card. hope this does not happen to anyone else who really needs to pay for bills with a visa or mastercard.

To those of you saying the Greendot pre-paid card is a rip off, you are not paying attention to what the people are telling you when you activate your card. I have had this card for 5 years and when you call in to activate your card, yes they do ask for another $19.95, but this is only if you want to upgrade to their Premier card, it is not mandatory. It's called "upselling" and every business does it. Listen next time you call in to pay your car insurance bill, they will try and upsell you then. But you do not have to pay the extra money to get the card. I have had mine for years and even when one got stolen, they replaced it with no problem within the day. Also, I have had no problem speaking with a representative at any time.
