I emailed the credit union, I tried chatting with them, I called them and in each case I was stone-walled. I finally I had to go to a location and sit for 30 minutes waiting for a service advisor. After 20 some odd minutes of searching around on my account- she advised me that I had "opted out" of the program in 2011 by coming into the branch and telling them that. I told her, "Yes, but I opted-in a year or so later by checking the 'opt-in' on the website." She told me that did not matter, that I would have had to come into a location to opt-in, that the website opt-in only allows them to over-draw my checking account by paying my transactions and then they charge me NSF fees for each transaction.

The fact that this process, this "use the online site for banking" is slanted in such a way as to hide the particulars from their members is underhanded, sneaky and member money grubbing avarice. I was told there was no way to opt-in with the option of them using my savings account money to cover the charges without physically coming into a location! To be clear, the credit union does not allow you to have over-draft protection without NSF penalty unless physically sitting in a location and telling a service advisor you want THAT kind of protection. What a great way for them to make money from their members: falsely inferring you are covered for overdrafts by checking the opt-in option on the website!

I asked for a refund of all the NSF charges because their website was not clear in this situation and I was told, "You definitely will not get a refund."
