I recieved a phone call from a representative who claimed to be calling on behalf of "Microsoft" regarding "problems they detected" on my computer. The caller atteempts to direct you to run to exectue msinfo32.exe, event viewer (eventvwr.exe) the windows system information program & internal event monitoring software built into windows, and various other internaal windows internal programs. He claims he is there to help you troubleshoot issues eith your operating system.

A rather curious claim and procedure I inquired rather agressively, made notes, and in clarification received the following information:

When asked if he had direct knowledge that my computer had this problem he changes subject.

When confronted with the fact that the only way he could know of the type of problem he is calling about is direct remote monitoring of a private computer, the individual insists that he is not monitoring, windows is not monitoring, but can not explain what the problem is, how he has come to know that the computer has it, or what the specific problem is.

The individual calls himself by the name of Andrew, no last name given.

The individual speaks with a heavy east Indian accent.

The phone number is has the TID alians of "1" rather than the phone number, presumably from intentional misprogramming on his end. When asked about it, he offer little explanation.

The phone from which the call originates is VOIP.

The individual claims to be located at 501 Springfield Road, Wilmington, DE; but is unable to provide the zip code. A quick internet search (while on the phone) shows 501 Springfield Road, Wilmington, DE is a large home surrounded by forest on all sides a good bit outside of Wilminghton, DE, goole maps has difficulty because there is actually no such address within Wilmington, DE - it is well outside of town and outside the mailing area that would have a "Wilmington, DE mailing address".

Upon further inquiry the person clarifies that he does not actually work for Microsoft, but works for a company "Help desk for PC" and further claims to be a "preffered service provider of Microsoft" Upon further inquiry, the individual does not know wheter or not the company he works for is a Inc, Corp, LLC or partnership and does not understand or have the abilbity to respond when questioned for the company agent of service.

Unable to successfully respond to most inquiries, the individual, clearly a "scamster" inadvertently disconnects.
