Hey Jim. Not the .9 of a penny

I think the OP pretty clearly stated that the price was $2.75.9 per gallon (more correctly written as $2.759). After that, it's just a math problem.
What I'd like to know is what sort of mathematical gyrations could you use to come up with a $1.72 overcharge? Just leaving off the 9/10 of a penny would only result in an overcharge of 3.3 cents.

What is happening here is you failed to consider that Nine tenths of a penny, (Yes it's intended that you miss it) That makes the gas effectively a penny a gallon MORE than it seems.
So in fact the gas is priced at 2.76 per gallon.
Yes it's intentionally misleading, and ALL gas stations do this, and in fact have been doing this "Unnoticed".9 for about 70 years or more.
Just look at the price posted and mentally add a Penny for the true price.
And ignore the Wanna be important morons here.

The rip off here is once again on the taxpayer!

The only rip off here is that the taxpayer paid good money to send this idiot to school.
All I see here is another bad return on investment with our tax dollars.
No wonder this person is "anonymous". I would be too if I was that stupid.
My suggestion is to go back to the third grade, as that is where basic math is taught.
$2.75.9 is actually $2.76, and 3.625 gallons is actually 3.63 gallons.
$2.76 x 3.63= $10.02
Looks like you owe them 2 cents!
Idiot.

I live in LA...I pay on average..$3.19 a gallon for regular. I do not have to be an expert at math to determine..I am getting a*s rammed simply because of locale.

You might want to re-check your math. 3.625*2.759=10.001375. So you got what you paid for.
