Home & Hearth took the deposit and filed the necessary paperwork to obtain the permits. After a long permit process the town declined the permit because the deck exceeded the size allowed on the property. We agreed to file the necessary variance paperwork, but the homeowner declined and hired another contractor to do work at the home without obtaining a permit. The homeowner also wanted us to put a structure over the work that was done without us obtain a permit. We declined and agreed to pay him back. I do agree that we have been slow to refund the money. As of today we have refunded $1600 of the $7000. We charged $500 for filing the permits and preparing drawings. We have full intentions to refund all the money and like I said we have all ready made 3 payments totaling $1600.
