On March 15th/16th I signed up with hostzilla.com through their advertisement from another company and in their video they promised 5 complete set up free websites if I took advantage of their amazing offer claiming an absurd value of these sites.

I think it said the normal value would have been like $10,000, but I would be getting these sites absolutely free all complete and set up, money making promises etc..

So I figured I would give it a shot, economy is on hard times these days and maybe a real true good promotion etc... So I finished watching their all hype video and clicked on the link which took me to their hosting sign up page. No problem, they said the sites were to be free. nothing about free hosting.

So the site showed three choices in selecting how I wanted to go about hosting with them.

1. register a new domain name
2.transfer domain name
3. change my DNS setting from my registrar

I tried selecting 4 times number 3 change my DNS setting from my registrar. and then I had to put in my domain name for the dns change requirements. I did.

Then after submitting it looped me back to same start page 4 times.  So then I figured well maybe if I choose the option 2.transfer domain name option then it might work, so I did, and what do ya know it worked.

(which by the way I had to pay an additional 12.99 for) and domain was never even til this time transferred.) Did not receive what I paid for.

NOTE: Their site would not allow me to use their option 3. change my DNS setting from my registrar even though they clearly advertised the option.

So then after I paid. I received no email with instructions on the transfer domain process, but instead I received an email with instructions on DNS steps as to refer to the option 3. change my DNS setting from my registrar, even though their site would not let me use that option. But no instructions for the option that I did finally choose.

So I emailed them explaining everything and i have all documentation if needed. And their reply was of an condescending nature and I actually felt from their process and communication as if I were a bother to them.

So finally I get this reply with a step by step process on how I was to set these sites up by doing this then doing that in the end only to find that they did no setup and if any setup were done it was by me entering information into web spaces that would eventually link a landing page, or splash page or squeeze page to an  auto responder etc..

(note they charged me 9.95 for set up even though they advertised free completely all set up etc.. for me), (had to pay for what they said was free) with no response or reply to my mentioned concerns of their signup process at all even after I re mentioned again. Total ignore.

In previous email I informed them that my domain could not be transferred, because the domain was new and could not be transferred for 60 days even though originally I wanted to just point my DNS name servers option anyway, letting them know that their site would not allow me to select that option and kept looping back.

So you would think that they would have right then reversed the 12.99 transfer fee, being as what i just told them, hence I would obviously not be getting their service that they charged me for. But nope, never any mention, offer or otherwise.

So as with most people in life things happen in ones life right. Well my family had some things that needed to be taking care of at the time, so decided to just deal with it later.

Then one week before my hosting account would be due to them, I get an invoice email letting me know that on such a date my card would be charged their hosting fee which is 12.95 when it became due automatically.

So My Husband and I talked about it, and decided to reply to their email invoice with our request for cancellation and full refund, only to receive a reply from this Janet Edwards person with her referring us to a terms of service, saying that they would not do any refunds because their terms of service said refunds had to be done within the first 15 days and we were outside that now even though it had not even been a whole month etc..

Get this we were waiting the whole time for a reply from them in regards to our original concerns of their signup process etc.. from when we made the purchase, they never replied , so duh of course it went past any 15 day whatever..

don't even know if she was telling truth, for all I know she could of changed their terms of service to say whatever they want.

So I email reply back and tell her in short that at the very least that they should owe the 12.99 domain transfer fee as the domain transfer never happened and she just resent reply back stating the same crap about terms of service.

Not even mentioning anything about that even though I had just told her or should I say reminded her of. I noticed that the first emails were also from her the same person when it all started.

We did some research and found a lot of complaints, bad reviews, scam reports about hostzilla.com
and that's why we decided to file this rip off report, heck there is even reports on here about same company.

Companies like these should not be allowed to operate. They are scams and they take advantage of people and their hard earned money.

REFUND

AUTHOR: takenadvantageof - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Well after the  overall insulting experience that I encountered with them and after mentioning that i had done my research on them, they finally responded with a Full Refund.

Don't have anything else to say. They still should not be able to get away with business practices like they use, apparently from my research on them in general and even the similar type complaints found on here anyway.

For anyone else out there that has or is running into experiences with this company. Don't continue to do business with them or any others like them. We all work way to hard for what we have. not worth it no matter how tempting things can be.

This company was outright blatant of their true intentions and it wasn't with the consumer in mind that's for sure, only them selves and their pocket. And chances are that if I did not do my reserch and being persistent, that they probably would not have even paid me any mind.

Moral to the story and point.

Do your research.
Ask questions.
And Don't back down!
