My wife attempted to improve her credit score and was taken in by a low to no finance charge. About one year later we noticed charges for CIC*Triple Advantage for 12.95. We attempted at least 5 times to have the charge removed and reimbursed. HSBC claimed no responsibility for the charges and refered us to Triple Advantage. Triple advantage promised every time that there would be no more charges and each time we were charged again. These charges also resulted in over limit fees. We finally succeeded in getting the account removed and we were offered a credit of 70.00 dollars. Then we recieved a mysterious membership in the mail for Just For Me (JFM), dealing with discount services at spas, health clubs and restaraunts etc. The terms established that we were paid members and that we would need to call to cancel the membership if we so desired. Calling HSBC resulted in the same response: You will need to call JFM. Calling JFM resulted in an endless recording of jazzy type office music. After an hour I decided this must be a scam. I immediatly called HSBC and closed the account. If you do this you will be transfered to a supervisor. Our account had a 0.00 balance with a credit of 25.00. They seemed very sorry that they were losing our business. When she asked why, I had the opportunity to voice my opinion about the practices of HSBC / Trilegiant / JFM who are operating in collusion with each other. The manager claimed to have no knowledge of any wrong doing. My suggestion to victims: CLOSE your HSBC account ASAP. Even if you have a balance you can close it providing you make your payments on time. This will prevent any further fraudulant charges. Closing the account can also raise your credit score in most instances. It seems to me that we have a general lack of ethics on behalf of HSBC /JFY/Triple Advantage and the rest of the mutiple names involved. Lets face it, we are living in the age of Enron type corporations and the best payback is this: "Cut Them Off" at the root. If thousands or millions cut them off there will be no more HSBC or JFM or Triple Advantage. Remember this also, If you call to cancel a membership...You have just admitted that you HAVE a membership and therefore opens the door for more charges...Don't do that. This card is not worthy of our hard earned dollars. Close it, chop it and even dice it. Learn the lifes lesson. Let's ban together and put these guys out of business.
