I was in the process of purchasing a car out of state, after I signed the paper work I learned that I would not recieve the car for almost another 2 weeks. I canceled the loan and the sales person, who looks like he is 12, kept the money that I had to give for a down payment. I have still not recived any reinbursment for the down payment and he hangs up on me when I call. Whatever you do do not purchase a vehicle from this place they are all liars, and they do not work for the cutomer.

I too have fallen victim to the antics of Houser Hyundai. We purchased a 2002 Hyundai Elantra just over a yr ago from this outfit. I would suggest that anyone who is considering buying either a Hyundai or anything from Houser to run the other way!

The car we purchased for my step-daughter had @ 22,000 miles on it. The washer fluid reservoir was frozen solid, the safety belt was broken, as was inside door handle. All of these items would be self-evident to anyone doing a safety-check of the car and/or during the detailing process.

When we initially looked at the car, they couldn't get it started, because the alarm system was not working. The yanked it out of the car and seemed to expect that we would still buy it without replacing it. I had to very firmly tell them that this was unacceptable. They finally did replace it, but made it seem like they were doing me a favor.

They never did inspect the car, after numerous prompts to do so (we had to pursue that on our own). The sales "boy" (Mike, I believe) did appear very young. He did not respond well to the pressure of the situation and basically had a tantrum when I confronted him @ his behavior.
When they fixed (replaced) the washer reservoir, they forgot to tighten the wipers onto the car.

My step-daughter tried the wipers and they didn't work. We had a local mechanic discover what they did/didn't do. They asked that I create a list of everything that needed to be fixed on the car. They repeatedly overlooked items on the list. I strongly suspect that this car was a flood damaged car (given the above issues).

At one point in time, I spoke with the sales manager about a refund and his said that he would refund my money, if I wanted to (I said I would check with my wife and step-daughter). No more than 2 days later, when I took him up on the offer, he recanted his offer. They basically stated that they have a number of lawyers, that we could take them to court, but that we would be wasting our time.

We have had numerous other mechanical problems with this car (brakes, suspension items, the car continues to squeal when it is backing up; they never have figured it out). Needless to say, these latter problems have been looked at, by another Hyundai dealer.

We have spent $1,000 on this car, in the last year. Buyer beware when you are told that you have a 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty, it might as well be a trillion mile and 10 light yr warranty!

The caveat is that the warranty does not cover wear and tear items. Fair enough. But, who decides what is a manufacturer's defect and what is wear and tear item? Hyundai and/or the dealership, that's who.

What s their job? To make/save money and they can say oh well if you dispute their findings. Who is going to sue Hyundai International, one of the largest privately-owned companies on the planet Since the purchase of the Hyundai, we were sent a letter basically stating that Hyundai admitted to misrepresenting the horsepower of some of their cars (and they had to sent people $50, $75 or $100) depending on which car they purchased. Not bad

Get people to by your cars and lose a small margin on the purchase price, Why not?
Lastly, the dealership (Houser) showed grave absence of professionalism above and beyond what I noted above. The sales person stated that his mother was ill (and was making excuses for screwing up on the sale of the car). I can empathize (my mother died just a few months prior).

But, take time off or do your job, don't make it the customer's issue. Further, this same salesman told me that they had a new sales manager , because the previous one was let go by the owner (when the sales manager was on his honeymoon) because he fudged his resume stating that he went to Brown University.

He also reportedly sexually harassed a female employee at their facility (he said). I probably should have run the other way, when I heard this. What credibility!

The business manager seemed to be understanding, but she turned tail when it came down to our wanting to get a full refund for the car. She seemed like she has less power in the decision-making process that she presented to us in our earlier meetings.

Check out Balise, Bertera or some of the other dealers in the area on this site. Then, do your homework! If something smells fishy at the start, run Because that is a sign of things to come!

I too was purchasing a car from houser in 1999 and was promised a car. After 2 weeks of waiting I was told by the salesman FAUSTO that if I felt I was being treated poorly I should go somewhere else.

I however got my downpayment back. I believe there is some kind of law thats says you have to get it back.
