I called the Hughes Net Sattelite sales dept. I wanted to order cause I have Wildblue Satellite and they give me downloading and uploading threshold.

Well, the person I spoke with... I've called 3 different times and they all gave me the same info. They asked if i had service with someone else before I called them and with whom. I told them Wildblue and then they asked why I didn't want Wildblue and of course I told them that they give me a certain threshold to download and upload each month and it slows my internet service down so much. So to get their sale they lied to me. They told me that their internet service is so much faster than Wildblue... its blah blah blah mpbs (watever it is I'm not sure.. sorry) and wildblue is blah blah mpbs slower. Wildblue gives you blah blah downloading threshold but Hughes gives you more downloading threshold and plus it rolls over everyday compare to Wildblue which rolls over every month. So even though you use all your downloading threshold with Hughes, it rolls over the next day and your internet is always fast. They bullshitted me so much and I believed them. They told me $99 for activation fee, $59.99 a month plus an additional $10 for lease on the satellite dish. So i agreed and had them schedule for an installer.

The installer came a week later on friday and said that he needs to mount a pole because the wildblue pole is too small and it would cost me an additional $125... so i said ok. The installer showed me the internet... it was fast.. like wildblue before the downloading. Wrote him a check, initialed, and signed some papers and he left. I used the computer for the first hour and downloaded maybe 10 songs... my kids got on youtube after that and watched a couple of videos... then when i got on after them... the service was slow as hell... slow like wildblue after using up the downloading threshold. I didn't think anything of it.. I just thought maybe the clouds were blocking and it made the internet slow or maybe the leaves fell on the satellite dish to make it slow. well, the whole evening till the next day on saturday it was still at slow speed so i just didn't touch it. I just thought maybe it was the clouds again. My husband even went on for the first time and said it was slow so maybe something's wrong.

Well Sunday I wasn't home but my husband was. He used the internet and he told me it was really fast. So when I got on it was slow. I was wondering why its so slow because they said they give us more downloading threshold than Wildblue so that means it should be fast cause we didn't download that much.

Monday comes... its still slow. I got fed up so I called HughesNet Tech Support. They were from another country so I didn't understand what the f*** they were saying and they got mad so many times when I told them to repeat it cause I couldn't understand what they were saying.. ahhaha.. anyways, Here's what they told me.. I used up all my 200megabyte downloading threshold yesterday at 1am so it will refresh tonite at 1am and will be really fast again. I was in shock... 200mb?????? 200mb a day??? What the f*ck?!?!?! Those lieing sales dept!!!! Then to find out... if i cancel, there's no cancellation fee but I won't get a refund for my activation fee of $99 but I will be refunded for the 1st month that they charged me. WHAT?!??!! They charged me $59.99 for my 1st month without my consent at all... Noone told me I'd be charged for my 1st month. All they told me was that after installation $99 will be automatically deducted from my bank account for the activation fee. So now they say they can't do nothing about refunding me the $99 activation fee and the $125 pole mount. I told them it was false advertisement to begin with... thats why I paid $99 for activation fee and let the installer mount a pole for $125 and now they took out $59.99 for the 1st month without my f*cking consent!!! I wanted to talk to a manager but he said the manager wouldn't be able to do anything and that i'd have to talk to the sales dept for giving me false information and the sales dept would have to contact them and authorize the refund which he said that the sales dept probably won't give a refund either. Oh my f*cking god I cannot believe this s**t!!! So I'm going to call them tomorrow to see what they say cause I just paid Wildblue $250 to mount a pole couple months ago dammit. These f*cking as*holes!!! Ripping people off. Then they wanted to extend my free trial another 2 wks and upgrade me to 450mb for an extra $20. wow... 250 more megabyte.. thats really something humungous!! thats just an extra hour of download or a couple more of youtube videos to watch.. how exciting right. So NO!!! I didn't accept. I'll call sales dept tomorrow and see what happens and try my hardest to get my money back and go back to wildblue.. at least they don't lie about their sh*t.

Hi There,

I actually work for HughestNet as a CSR. (Customer Sales Represenative) And I will let you know first, and foremost that you WERE told about your bill when you placed your order. All Sale Reps have a set script to follow, and when we get through verifying your Credit Information, there is the script where we read the fine print. This MUST be read, word for word. It IS agianst the law for our sales rep not ro read it to you word for word. I can't post the script here due to a breach of my contract, but I will tell you right now, in the script, it does say " Alright Mr/Mrs Smith, On the day of instillation, your credit or debit card you provided will be deucted the total amount of the cost, which inclues the $99 Activation Fee, (the internet package plan, I believe yours was the home,) $59.99 for you're internet service plan, and the $9.99 monthy rental fee, + any charges for optional services you may have selected, and any applicable taxes. "

So, it was read to you. If you weren't listening, that's your fault. HOWEVER, if the sales rep didn't read that to you, than they broke the law, and our companys policy. What you can do is call the Customer Service Department, ask to speak with a supervisor right away, and explain the situation with them, they can actually pull your previous call up (all calls in/out are recorded and kept on file) and if you were lied too, or misinformed, they will credit the account, or take the appropriate action.

Best of Luck to you.

- HughestNet Customer Sales Rep
