I was a student at Indiana Business College (IBC) for a year and a half. I am graduating with a degree in Health Claims that really isn't going to be to my advantage. IBC sweet talks people into signing up with their program, taking out loans, and then screwing people over.

I do not feel that I have been properly treated, when I went in to just interview at the school I was so excited with what they told me that I signed up right away. I was told that the credits would be able to transfer to other colleges in the area. I was not told anything about their crazy attendance policy. ( You can only miss 4 days without having a 1% reduction taken out on your grade in every class you miss. Even if you have extenuating circumstances.) The people that run the office at IBC really don't care about you, only about getting your money.

I also have had problems with the financial aid department. I don't feel comfortable stating those problems here because if I do and the people at IBC read this they will know who I am. But they almost caused me not to be able to return to school because of a mistake of theirs.

The people in the office will lie straight to your face. If you go to them with a problem (which is what they are there for) they will just try to blow you off. No matter how many times you go and try to talk to them, the problem never gets resolved because they don't care about the problem, only if they get their money.

The teachers (although wonderful people) are not required to have a teaching license. Some of the teachers are even former students of IBC. This causes many problems because how is someone supposed to teach something they do not know. I witnessed a situation in which the teacher had never taught nor heard of the things in the class that she was supposed to teach. It is not right to make someone pay so much money to learn, and then not have a teacher that knows the subject they are teaching.

I consider what happens when you walk into IBC and talk to an admissions rep fraud. If they tell you that your credits transfer, and tell you so many other good things, like their 97% job placement rate...then of course one will be excited and ready to apply.

You think that you are bettering yourself. But when you get into classes and start working toward your degree it all goes down hill. There are so many things I could say about this school. I had some type of problem every quarter I was there. I have heard from many people that they have had a hard time finding a job after graduating.

The 97% placement rate really isn't correct with all of the complaints I have heard. Someone really needs to look into the school, I think it could be a valuable resource if they stopped lying to people.

I too was a victim. I signed on double majoring in Medical Coding & Medical Assisting. Their cirriculam states "only necessary classes" to get your degree. I had to take customer service, strategies for sucess-useless classes, where we did next to nothing-even sometimes watching game shows on tv. I complained numerous times. Also had to pay for "telephone tecniques"-which was never even utilized. My second 1/4 my loan app. on-line through Sallie Mae said it was not approved. IBC'S financial dept, said "not to worry, it meant nothing" Well, it did..I had to drop out & now owe $4,000.00 for absolutely NOTHING & have no job nor did I aquire ANY skills. The school will not budge on the loan obligation & Sallie Mae will only go by what the school says & their response is "you signed a contract".

I have called the Better Business Bureau, Commission on Proprietary Education, and their "accreditation body" and written the president of the school a letter. It's going to take some writing to several people before anything is done but they are on my case-right now.

I know it's easier said than done but they told me the same things and I refuse to let $16,000.00 go down the drain. I can't see that happen. I don't know exactly what kind of situation you are in but you can fight it and win. No one can take your story away from you. I have called the local news casters to get some help and they told me that if I don't get my money back they will air the story! I have a lot of money at stake here! Not to mention the two years of my life I wasted at their "school".

All I.B.C. is, is a training center but because their are so many good community colleges now these kind of schools are being faded out so they do whatever it takes to get your money and their "admissions representatives" have to meet a quota or they get fired so that's more of an incentive for them to keep lying to unsuspecting people. Ohh, then only two of their programs at their business campus only will transfer into select colleges and the A.C.I.C.S. "their national accreditation body", only gives them permission to grant degrees, diplomas, and certificates!

Isn't that something they lied all the way through the program and now that I am calling them out about the case they have truly shown their true colors. They have tried hanging up on me, laughing, and putting me on hold for minutes at a time.

Well, that show how much their students are number one! HAH! Not to mention we pay their salaries and a good one probably. These people are wrong for doing this and I will make sure that it never happens again. The A.C.I.C.S. has a website I have several addresses of people that work there. Your can email: kturner@acics.org God bless you and you can fight this and win!
