I wasted a phone call to Spain to respond to an award notice of $815,950 .00.

After being told to keep this confidential, not even to tell my bank, I became suspious.

I checked the internet and found it to be a scam.

Why has this been going on since 2008 and nothing has been done about it?

Simple reason.

"Why has this been going on since 2008 and nothing has been done about it? "

It's been going on because people like yourself seem to believe that they could have won huge sums of money in a supposed lottery that they never entered.

Nothing is done about it because you can't prevent people from being stupid.   It would take a cooperative international effort involving law enforcement on both sides of the transaction.  International law enforcement has higher priority things to worry about.

If you believed this in the first place, you're not very smart.  Also, if you take down one of these scams, another one will just take its place.  There's no point in doing anything about it.
