I.R.S. METHUEN LACK OF ANY SECURITY METHUEN, Massachusetts

I went to visit a friend who works on the same street as the IRS for the first time last week.  I accidentally turned into the IRS lot, drove 1/2 way around the building and walked in. I noticed a guard at a picnic table with some ladies and he looked but said nothing so I assumed I was all set.   I then walked right thru their front door and waited to be helped.  A security officer was VERY BUSY talking to a young woman who worked there beyond the glass doors, so busy he never saw me, I waited for a nice older gentlemen to walk in from another room to tell me I had to go up the hill.

 Is this safe?  I had just drove right up to a Gov building, parked and went into the lobby and not stopped once. 

On my way out I noticed the gaurd sitting talking to the women at the picnic table, I felt weird and assumed he would be watching me carefully get to my car but he was way too busy for that never even noticed me.   

I drove up the hill and after entering my friends building (public) I was met inside by a guard who asked me if he could help and had me wait for my friend to come down and get me. 

I told her how relaxed security was at the IRS building and she said you have no idea!  We went to a confrence room that was not being used and she showed me a huge parking lot out the window.  She explained that it is their parking lot and that at least twice a week at lunch and early afternoons the men stand there and watch employees meeting their "spouses" and getting romantic right there!  

I asked why they did not call police and she said managment did not wish to start any trouble with them but it truly is disgusting.   No gates, no guards, nothing to stop anyone from entering the actual building let alone drive right up to it.

Is this what my tax money pays for?
