Below is the chatlog I had with an agent.  It details the $30 overcharge on renewals from ixwebhosting.com

you: on the same page where I renew

you: I may renew my expert hosting plan for $7.60/month

you: or change to an expert hosting plan for $5.44/month

you: and I was wondering why the discrepancy.

Ivan Marasin: $5.44/month is for Annual billing period.

Ivan Marasin: $7.95/month is for Quarterly billing period.

you: yes, then why does it want to charge me $91.25, or $7.60/month when I renew for an annual period.

you: ?

you: It's the same plan

you: same period

you: two different buttons

you: one says renew

you: one says change

you: and they are $30/year different.

Ivan Marasin: Could you please provide me your exact steps so I could reproduce this issue on my side?

you: I log in to my account

you: I look click on the "settings" button of my hosting plan

you: there are four options:

you: change assigned billig profile

you: change hosting plan

you: change billing period

you: change renewal status

you: and at the bottom

you: a big button that says "renew account until Aug 7, 2011

you: if I click that button

you: the charge for an annual expert plan is $91.25

you: if instead, I use the change hosting plan option, and choos expert plan, annual,

you: and click change plan

you: the charge is $65.07

you: and I am asking why there is a discrepancy between the two.

Ivan Marasin: Please hold on, let me check

Ivan Marasin: Still checking this issue, please stay online.

Ivan Marasin: I can offer you to renew this plan for USD 65.07 now.

Ivan Marasin: Please provide me with last 4 digits of your credit card and I'll submit a billing ticket for you with such a request.

you: Thank you. Can you tell me why there was a discrepancy?

Ivan Marasin: Looks like this is some kind of a system error.

Ivan Marasin: So we need to process this renewal on our side in order to process it correctly and safely.

Ivan Marasin: Please stay online while I'm submitting this ticket.
