Do not do business with James Swann. This individual deals via Craigslist, offers Comic Con tickets at reasonable sounding price, asks for deposit on tickets (half of ticket price), and fails to follow through.
He claims to be a volunteer with Comic Con and will provide "proof" of his volunteership (email registration confirmation from Comic Con). I have contacted Comic Con; they confirmed that he was registered to volunteer but was terminated as a result of his ticket fraud.
Specifically, he agrees to pick up tickets from Comic Con on Preview Day (says they are in his name so only he can pick them up) and will meet you to trade the remaining ticket price for the physical ticket badges. Agrees to meet you at either the hotel he will be staying at (San Diego Downtown Hilton) or at the convention.
He will ask to complete money transaction via "GreenDot MoneyPak."
I believe he is located in San Diego, but appears to be committing internet fraud in/from the greater Southern California area. He likes to operate via text message.
Beware of phone conversation with him. He sounds very convincing and honest, and will hurry you into completing your end of the transaction, but once he has your money, he will begin avoiding completing his end. He is friendly at the beginning, but will become more hostile when you ask him to complete his end of the transaction. After receiving your money, he will become vague and not offer details or confirmation re: obtaining your tickets.
There are several other reports on this website re: this individual, as well as warnings on Craigslist to avoid him. Comic Con Human Resources is aware of this individual, but if you have been victimized, you should report it to them as well so they can keep track of the severity of this issue. If you have been victimized by this individual, please contact the San Diego authorities and your local authorites (as I am) to stop this criminal from continuing to commit fraud and scams.
